RARE DIELECTRIC PARALLEL PLIERS /

Used and in very good condition. Rare Dielectric Parallel Pliers / Dielectric Parallel Jaw Pliers. Made in England. One of the very few with rubber grips - perhaps even unique. Bought at an estate sale. This is a versatile multiple-use pliers complete with a built-in punch / connector crimper, wide cutters, and wire stripper, as well as its powerful normal gripping function. While in like-new conditions, both the upper and lower cutter blades are replaceable. These Dielectric parallel jaw pliers are 8-1/2" long, husky, and industrial grade - built for those really tough jobs. The really nice thing about parallel jaw pliers is that the jaws close evenly on the gripped object, as opposed to the "V" jaw openings of standard pliers, which interferes with gripping ability because gripped objects tend to slip out of the "V" grip (especially nuts). Also, because the jaws are square and parallel to each other, you can use these parallel pliers jaws as a line spacing tool and as a small square, and even (forbid) as a light-work hammer. These are truly rare - as well as extremely useful - after months of looking on eBay and Amazon.com, I could find no other pliers like this one.

DARIO GRAD-O-METER, MODEL D400

Used and in great condition. Everything works perfect, cosmetically looks used. Dario Grad-O-Meter Pattern Machine, Model D400, SKU #18610. New, these price at $550. This precision instrument makes precision positioning in both the X and Y axes. The Dario Grad-O-Meter Model D400 was the most widely used pattern-making tool and pattern grading tool in the fabric and clothes industries before the widespread use of automated computer systems, and still great for small operations. While primarily used in textiles and fashions, this device can also be used for precision machining, woodworking, drafting, drawing, stenciling, scrolling, photography, measuring, map reading, precision positioning, robotics, and other precision dimension transfer and pattern replication systems. The Dario D400 itself is about 27-1/2" long. The bottom aluminum plate is 24" x 6" x 1/8", and is screwed on and removable, making it very versatile for many configurations and uses. There is a 1 mm clearance in the windowed area between the Dario D400 mechanism and aluminum plate.

RARE HIGH QUALITY MACHINED-STEEL
MAULE MECHANICAL PRESSURE GAUGE, 0-75 LBS

New. Machined-steel mechanical Maule pressure gauge, 0-75 lbs, in its case. We do not know what this Maule tool was originally designed for, do you? Most likely it was designed for aerospace or aircraft applications. It is a very high quality, machined steel device, lubricated, with a scale engraved into it. The pressure gauge measures pressure against the end on the left, and its scale is: 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70 and 75 lbs. You can use it for weighing, to measure material hardness via dimpling pressures, to measure frictional forces, or placed against a wrench handle to measure torque. Tools of this very high quality precision machined steel are almost always very expensive.

RARE, UNUSUAL ANTIQUE POMEROY NO. 1, 1906
PRESS / PUNCH / RIVETING TOOL + VISE / CLAMP + ANVIL

Used and all of its functions work great. Some surface corrosion, but nothing significantly diminishes tool strength or function. We lubricated all moving parts.

Very rare antique multi-tool Pomeroy No. 1 Press / Punch / Riveting, Vise / Clamp and Anvil Tool, Patented March 27, 1906 - the original Model 1 for this great tool! The silvery object tied to the handle is a modern socket which we simply place over the bottom extension of the press / riveter for hard presses (the socket can also be fitted with various dies and surfaces to suit one's applications without permanently modifying the extensions). You can cut off the plastic tie wrap when you want to use the socket for hard presses or if you wish to get rid of this our little added feature. The press / punch / riveter and vise / clamp parts of this tool are obvious from the images. The anvil part is less obvious and it consists of two sections: One is the top flat part of the tool between the handle and top of the Vise / Clamp tool part, and the other is the horn-like extension in the front of the Press / Punch / Riveter tool part.

This is a truly ingenious design for a benchtop multi-tool - down to the last detail of including a pipe hole optional way of mounting (Pomeroy multi-tool can also be bolted to top of bench) and alignment with other tools, and the notches in the vise/clamp faces for securely holding round and square stock, such as rods, pipes and tubing, and odd-shaped objects. This tool was made back in a time when most manufacturers and repair shops were small, family operations where each worker had to do many different functions - opposite of modern assembly lines. With the way the economy is today, once again we are turning to the small operators. This Pomeroy multi-tool is very useful today, as it was then, because a single worker can efficiently use this tool to perform many of his/her various work functions from just one location on the bench. This makes this Pomeroy multitool an invaluable tool for handy men and women, crafters, modelers and small shops everywhere.

We have been collecting antique, vintage and unusual hand tools for 50 years. We have many others to sell - if interested, please email us. This is the first Pomeroy No. 1 multi-tool we have run into (Pomeroy Riveting tools are also scarce but they are much more common than this Pomeroy multi-tool). This very rare Pomeroy multi-tool is not only a wonderful tool collectible, but is still very useful for many small shop operations, handymen and crafts people even today. We believe that some of the best tools ever made were proudly Made-in-America 20 - 100 years ago. LARGE, VINTAGE, HEAVY DUTY VERSATILE
HAND DRILL - w/ REMOVABLE CHUCK

Works great. We can't find a stamp on who made it. It is large, heavy-duty, industrial grade, robust, 16" long with a 2" wide chuck (Jacobs 34B, "5/8"), 6 lbs. Crank wheel is 6" diameter and solid. Crank handle is 4.5" from center. Great for old-fashioned crafts and wood projects, field use, camping use, survival situations, and other situations where you don't have ready electric power.

CHUCK SEPARATES One of the nicest things about this drill is that the chuck can be removed in two ways for it to be used in separate operations or for more compact storage. The drill shaft (about 1/2" dia) screws into the chuck at the top of its back through a fitting at its end (about 5/8" dia threads). In addition, the drill shaft is secured to the small gear with a through steel pin (about 1/8" dia.) located just below the gear, and if you were to punch out this pin, you could slide the shaft free of both the small gear and the drill housing in between, leaving you with the complete chuck/shaft assembly, which you could then directly insert its shaft into a drill press or any handheld drill that will accept a 1/2" shaft. Then if you wanted to reassemble them, you could do so by re-installing the shaft and pin.

VINTAGE/ANTIQUE FLEXIBLE MATERIALS CLAMP /
BIG VULCANIZED HOT PATCH CLAMP

Used and in great condition. We don't know what this large, unusual-looking clamp was originally designed for. The clamping end looks very much like the typical hot patch clamp for tubes. The fancy curve in its body and the much greater thickness of the materials it can handle looks like it is used for patching large, bulky tubes that its smaller cousins can't handle. A regular bench vise can be used to clamp anywhere along its ridge for optimum positioning. It has some surface discoloration as it was stored in a barn, but is fully functional. We don't know its make or model or how old it is. Makes a great tool collectible, and is very useful for clamping all kinds of flexible materials such as rubber, plastic, metal sheeting, and wood for the shop, business, hobbies, crafts, model-making, fabric and sewing uses, etc. If the material is relatively thin and flexible, you likely can roll-up or bunch-up a large quantity of material inside the clamp and clamp much deeper into the material than any other clamp. This clamp of course can be still be used to clamp rigid or thick items and materials to a depth of about 5".

HSIN LARGE PIN PULLER TOOL /

Appears to be new. This is a very rare, yet very useful and versatile pulling tool. We do not know its formal name or original functions. It appears to be a very high quality tool. How it works is that there is an oval 1/4" wide x 1/2" long slot in the silvery front plate of the tool, which lines up with a 3/8" wide and 1/2" long oval slot in the top front "barrel" of the tool. There is a hollow piston inside of the hollow barrel, which has a corresponding slot in its front plate. When this piston is fully forward, the piston front slot rests against the back of the front plate slot, which exposes the piston's hollow opening behind its front slot through the barrel's top slot. By repeatedly compressing the big blue handles, this piston is ratcheted backwards against spring pressure from a compression spring behind the piston, thereby increasingly separating the two front slots. Maximum rearward piston travel is 1". The small silver handle in front releases the piston to make it spring all the way forward again to repeat the process. The head of a bolt or nail, for examples, is inserted from above behind the two front slots with the piston all the way forward. The extractor's front plate is pressed against the object where the pin is inserted, the blue handles are steadily and repeatedly pulled, usually smoothly and quickly drawning out the pin from its hole. This tool can be similarly used to remove nails with heads greater than about 1/4" wide and shafts equal to or less than about 1/4", and small gears, pullies and wheels from their shafts or axles. This same mechanism can be used to compress a spring on a shaft. The slotted front plate is attached by screws, and can be removed and replaced by some other front plate you make for other types of jobs you may need it for.

HEAVY DUTY GRIP CHAIN

This is a new very heavy duty grip chain that looks like motorcycle drive chain but much heavier and shorter. It has a hook at one end that connects to a threaded and adjustable long nut to tighten or loosen the chain's grip. We have no idea what it is designed to do. Do you? It looks like to us that it is designed to grip a 1-1/2" dia. pipe or bit for perhaps some kind of drilling or coreing operation, or to act as a stop for a pipe or bit from slipping or not going any deeper than intended.

UNUSUAL CUTTING & EXTRACTING TOOL /
CONTAINER OPENING TOOL

Used and in great condition. While it looks unused, the paint is chipped in a couple of places. We don't know exactly what this tool does or its make or model. It has an adjustable and pointed and sharp cutting head. It also has a crank at the end for turning the cutting head (see top of second image for image of black ball at the end of the crank). And it has a squeeze handle that pulls back the cutting head, which looks like a canopener type cutting head. The cutting head looks like it is plunged into a container top, the crank is then turned to cut out a circle which diameter is determined by the cutting head setting, and once the circle is cut out, the handle is squeezed to pull off or extract the cutoff circle away from the container. It looks like the kind of tool used for some commercial or industrial use. The flange near the front has a 5/16" hole probably used to bolt the tool down on back or side ende of a work bench. If you know what this tool does, please let us know.

It looks like some kind of special automotive tool, connector crimper or sheet metal forming tool. Do you know what this special tool does? This one is unique because it has thick, sturdy cemented-on rubber handle covers - great if you use the tool often and to apply greater pressure. Rubber handle covers also provide electrical insulation and thermal insulation - much better for electrical uses, forge uses and welding/brazing uses. The front end can also be disassembled and modified to use with punch and dies, starter punches, special grippers, cutters, etc.

Rare, antique, vintage car valve reciprocating grinder hand tool. Used and it works great. 10-3/4" long. By moving the handle up and down, the grinding tool at the bottom first spins one direction and then spins in other direction. This allows for a more even grinding of the surface. Can also be used as a paint mixer. But best as a terrific automotive or antique tool collectible. We bought it at an estate sale, and was told that it was used to service Model-T and Model-A Fords.

The last thing you want is a runaway dolly, cart or hand truck! People get seriously injured - even killed - and property gets destroyed! The results can be catastrophic and extremely costly. One way to help prevent dollies, carts and hand trucks from going out of control is to secure stops or brakes to them, and then to properly apply the brakes when the situation arises, for example, you need to go and get help because the load is too heavy for the slope you have to take it down so that you can move the carrier more safely. The brakes are applied and released by the foot, so you don't have to let go of the carrier or load, or precariously bend down to apply them.

VERSATILE CHROME STEEL BALL JOINT JIG

Used chrome steel ball joint jig, and it works great. Very high quality and very sturdy. Ball joint jig has some unknown medical or laboratory application, but is very versatile and can be used for many other jobs. The wingnut tightens the ball into place. The ball joint will rotate through 360 degrees azimuth with an angle up to 45 degrees from the vertical through the entire 360 degrees. The tube connected to the top of the ball is 5" long with a 5/8" inner diameter hole about 4" deep. We do not know what the mechanism along this tube is used for, but it works great to position a tube or pipe slipped over this tube. The "L"-shaped "handle" on the side is a hexagonal bar 1/2" thick that is 4-1/2" long and sticks out 1-1/2".

VINTAGE BUTTERFIED PIPE THREADER
RARE, VINTAGE Model No.32B

Used and works great. While not new, the dies are still in good condition. 23-1/2" long. Sizes are: 5/8" - 10 TPI. 1/2" - 12 TPI. 7/16" - 14 TPI. 3/8" - 16 TPI. Aside from being a great collectible, this Butterfield pipe threader is really nice because you can even do oddsized pipe diameters smaller and larger than the rated diameters for any of its thread TPI, and because you can thread pipes of varying diameters fast and efficiently because you don't have the change the pipe dies every minute. We have mainly used it over the years to thread PVC pipe pieces that we use to house electronic probe electronic circuits so that we could put screw-on end caps on them.

Terrific find at an estate sale! Heir of owner of these unbelievable hammers/swages told us that his great grandfather, a blacksmith and wheelwright, used these hammers/swages to prepare and repair the wagons of Mormon Pilgrims on their way to Utah shortly after the Civil War. Since we do not know this person or his family, we have no way of knowing and cannot guarantee that his story is true - but if true, these hammers/swages have an incredible history to them!

Longest hammer/swage is almost 23" long (other two are about 15.5" and 15"). We can find no markings on the heads. But two hammers/swages have markings on their handles (the heir did not know if the handles or heads had ever been replaced). One handle has embossed on it, "PROP. OF BETH STEEL" ("BETH STEEL" is best we know (We are not an antique tool expert) an abbreviation for Bethlehem Steel, which built the Golden Gate Bridge), top handle section in 3rd image. Another handle (the long one) has embossed on it, "Prop. of Beth Steel Corp." on one side and "Buckeye", "HARTWELL GENUINE HICKORY", and "HARTWELL BROTHERS MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE" in green lettering on the other side, bottom two handle sections in 3rd image (apparent differences in handle widths and colorations in image are due to lighting and zoom effects, actual color of all handles is a dark brown). Both the hammer/swage heads and handles have seen much vigorous use, but are still very usable if you still wish to use these hammers/swages (much better in a collector's case).

Take a look at the incredible heads on these hammers/swages! On all of your years on this planet, have you seen heads exactly like these! we was told by the heir that the heads are concave like this to accommodate the shape of wagon wheel hubs, and to help shape wagon wheel axles.

Clearly, this is a very special collection of hammers/swages. Do NOT let them get away from you.

This stunning and exciting find is a rare vintage crime scene investigation (CSI) rolling tape measure equipment primarily used to investigate serious traffic accidents and perpetrator trails. Very high quality construction and materials. Body is made of metal and is about 7.5"diameter. Rolatape label states that it is a Rolatape Model 200 (Santa Monica, Calif.). Has an accordion-type folding arm that extends to about 3 feet (image shows it next to an 18" ruler). The handle folds up neatly and stores into the provided leather case, permitting the crime scene investigator to easily carry it in his vehicle. Even includes the rare documentation on it! This cost $34.75 when bought new, circa 1950s. We bought it from a retired police officer.

While originally designed for medical doctors to break open orthopedic casts, this tool has incredible versatility for opening all kinds of difficult enclosures, cases, boxes, structures and molds, and separating other items stuck tightly together. Many computers, televisions, computer monitors, printers, radios, other computer peripherals and electronic equipment have clamshell enclosures that are often difficult - if not nearly impossible - to open without a tool like this. Try opening one with a screwdriver or chisel and you will likely slip and mar the case - plus you won't have the torque leverage to be effective. Can even be used to open up real clams, large nuts, and for separating objects previously stuck together and, in some cases, cemented, wetted or rusted together. Spacing between blades is determined by washers. The 8" long arms that hold the blades are all aluminum, titanium or similar. Very high quality device probably made for a scientific laboratory. We are not sure what the original application of this device was, but it appears that it can be set up in such a way as to strip off strips of paper, cloth, cardboard, thin plastic, tissue or similar according to the widths you program it for with the washer spacers.

RARE GERMAN WIRE STRIPPERS:

Used and in great condition. This is a truly unusual, ingenious, innovative and high-quality tool with many possible uses. This wire stripper has for both top and bottom cutters a set of thin parallel blades consisting of about 30 each very thin, hardened steel blades that look much like an automobile feeler gauge except all of the blades are the same thickness. Each blade is independently spring-loaded and moves independently, depending on the force applied to it. When you insert the round insulated wire and close the stripper, each of these sliding blades cuts into the insulation independently to uniformly cut through the insulation for a very wide variety of wire thicknesses and crossection shapes. You then pull the wire out, uniformly stripping off the insulation as you go, with little or no scoring of the wire's conductor. The purpose of this unusual and special feature is for the user to be able to quickly and easily strip various wire sizes without having to individually adjust for each wire size.

The bite of this tool is crisp and clean - not like the beveled bite of most other wire strippers and wire cutters (e.g. dikes), which looks sloppy and sometimes interferes with tolerances. As well as insulation, the tool will precisely cut through a wide variety of other small soft parts that will fit within its jaws, including many plastics, rubber and balsa used by model makers, crafters and other hobbyists. And for medium hardness materials that it won't cut through, it will uniformly score them virtually around their entire perimeter for later cutting with a knife, thin saw, dikes or other tool. This is a truly exceptional tool, which also makes it a great tool collectible and tool gift.

RARE, ANTIQUE ACE CLIPPER STAPLING PLIER,
ACE STAPLER, NO. 702 w/ ORIGINAL BOX

Used and in great condition. The box has seen better days but is still intact. This is NOT the clearly more common No. 702 Ace Stapler that uses the No. 70001 staples (of which we have and use about a half-dozen of), but the No. 702 that uses the No. 700 staples (apparently, the same staples but with an older number; there are minor physical differences between the two staplers but they don't apparently affect the staples used). These staples are truly distinctive and very classy - as far as we know - ACE was the only one who made staplers that used these "undulated staples" (wavy staples). Whatever you staple stands apart from everything else anyone else has submitted alongside what you submitted. We have had people call us on the phone and ask us what in the world we use as a stapler and how can they get a stapler just like mine. This No. 702 Ace Clipper, however, is apparently so rare - in all my years of looking - this is the only one We have ever found - so We are not selling it cheap. We would not even suggest to use it but perhaps display it. Both the 702s that use 70001 staples and the ones that use 700 staples are very high quality chrome plated staplers - we swear if these were fetched from a sunken ship after years, they still would be bright and shiny - none of that awful mousy grey or black paint used on "standard" office staplers.

MACHINED STEEL ROD
1/2" DIAMETER, 6.25" LONG STEEL ROD w/ 3/4" SQ. END

New. This is an unmarked solid 1/2" stainless steel rod or bar that can be used for many applications. We do not know what its original function is but it probably was used in some scientific laboratory application. On one end, the rod is machined flat on top and left side, flat spots are about 1-1/4" long and 3/16" wide. On the other end, secured with two set screws is a 3/4" steel fitting 1-7/16" long. At the end of the square piece are 4 machined screw holes, 1/2" apart, and appear to be for 4-40 machine screws (screws not included). This is a nice set up because the rod can be secured with a lab stand clamp, and then work piece or tool can be clamped to the square end using any number of conventional clamps, vises, vise grips, etc. And the rod end can be used to securely clamp a variety of pullies, motorized drives, etc.

UNUSUAL, VERSATILE LABORATORY VISE,

Comes in two parts, shown scotch-taped together. Heavy, stainless steel vise / steel clamp, about 4.5" x 4" appears to be only slightly used. Frankly, we are not sure what this is. It may be some kind of medical vise / medical apparatus clamp, but it has versatile uses for the crafts person and small model builder in particular, and has scientific laboratory and general shop uses as well for holding and positioning smaller items of unusual shapes. It provides a precision clamping or vise function. It has precision through-holes drilled in it for insertion of the shown pin to lock it into position. Other precise drilled through holes are provided that appear to be used for marking precise positions. Can be autoclaved and used in a harsh environment.

VERSATILE CHROME STEEL LABORATORY CLAMP

Versatile chrome steel and aluminum laboratory clamp. Originally made for some unknown medical or laboratory use. Can be used to clamp many different things in the lab, shop, and crafts. In the top image, left end above the wingnut is an "eye" bolt inside the shown shroud that holds it. This eyebolt has a 1/2" dia. hole, serrated on the inside. The shroud and eye bolt can be rotated through 360 degrees. By tightening its wingnut, you draw down the eyebolt which tightens down and clamps a rod up to 1/2" diameter against the groove in the top of its shroud (right part of groove is shown below 8-1/4" mark on ruler).

This sale is for stainless steel Pakosnap weighted photo clips with the weight that fits inside or outside of the clip (I also sell unweighted photo clips, see my webpages). This clip is perfect for hanging film (roll or sheet) or for hanging or stretching any other kind of sheet material (1/4" thick or less in thickness) its strong grip will hold to prevent curl. The advantage of weighted photo clips over the unweighted ones, is that if curl is a problem, the unweighted clips require attachment to external weights or springs to provide the necessary stretching force. The weight can be easily switched from the inside to the outside and vice-versa, by temporarily removing the hinged front end of the clip and slipping the weight On or Off, and then snapping the front end back into place.

I prefer the weights inside the clips because the weight can then be easily slid forward as a wedge to lock the clip in the closed or locked position to hold greater loads and then easily pulled back to permit release of the clip. This kind of action is similar to a simple but very clever tool made and used by American Indian jewelry makers to quickly and securely position and hold jewelry and gem pieces they are working on without damaging or marring the pieces. Their tool consists of two pieces of hardwood, each about the shape and size of a hotdog bun half. At least one end, and sometimes both ends, has a leather, rubber or plastic cover on it. The two pieces are connected to each other about in the middle by a pivot so that one board acts like a seesaw on top of the other board with a 1" - 2" end opening or "mouth" at one end when the other end is pinched closed. The piece is placed in the mouth of one end with the leather/rubber/plastic cover, and then a wedge is shoved into the other end forcing the mouth end to seesaw close onto and secure the jewelry piece into place. The amount of force used to insert the wedge dictates the amount of "bite force" the mouth end applies on the piece being worked on. In fact, the wedge-shaped weights of these Pakosnap clips actually make ideal wedges for this type of jewelry tool. The weights also make nice fishing weights as well, as well as smooth and comfortable weighted grips for the ends if small rope, cable, string and chains. They can also be used for crafts and decorations, and as large costume jewelry pieces.

They are virtually identical mirror images of each other. These arm supports are highly adjustable. Each one comes with 8 adjustment knobs so that you can secure it to virtually any structure that has two parallel bars, rods or shafts from about 3/4" to about 1-1/4" diameter. You can independently adjust the heights of the horizontal bar clamps to match the horizontal bars to be clamped to. You can adjust the position of the arm rest in both tilt angle and linear position from the vertical bar. You can adjust - even remove - the hand-grip bar both in angle and distance from the arm rest. The arm rest uses a wide velcro strip for tying down whatever rests on the arm rest.

Has an instrumentation clamp at the end. One end of the gooseneck is a 5/8", 2" long dia. solid stem. The other end has a clamshell type clamp, outer dia. is 1.5" and hole is 0.5", hole is perpendicular to gooseneck shaft. This clamp has two screws at the top; when you remove them, the top semicircle part comes off. You can then place on the bottom half hole a 0.5" or so dia. pipe, tube or rod, and then place and screw the top part back on. Or if you wish, you can just simply bolt right throught the hole what you need to attach to the gooseneck. This clamshell type clamp stiffly rotates independently of the rest of the gooseneck. This is the best quality, stiffest gooseneck we 've ever run into. If your load is particularly heavy (5+ lbs), you can easily much increase shaft stiffening by putting heat shrink tubing or even lawn hose over all or part of the shaft (for hose, slit it down the middle its entire length, then work it onto the shaft, then tape or cement the seam closed).

Great for shop, office, scientific laboratory, crafts, sewing, band / orchestra, model-making, robotics, etc. operations! SCABBARD MATERIALS: KNIFE SCABBARDS,
SWORD SCABBARDS, CHISEL SCABBARDS

These are new materials for making scabbards of many different kinds and types. Now, you can make your own scabbards for your edged devices, including for knives, swords, daggers, bayonets, sabers, samurais, machetes, other cutlery, and other tools, such as saw blades, files, picks, etc. See below for quantities. Each set consists of one piece of hard plastic core scabbard material that is 21" long and will hold blades up to 1-1/4" wide and 1/8" thick, plus one 24" long piece of 1" diameter (1-5/8" flat width) soft plastic heatshrink tubing which you can cover the hard platic core material with if you wish (you can of course use the heat shrink for anything else you want to). The images show these scabbard materials with both a sword and a knife inserted for demonstration purposes to show you how these materials work. You can use these materials to make one or more scabbards by cutting them to your needed lengths. The heatshrink tubing is provided longer than the hard plastic so that by cutting it a little longer than your scabbard, it will conform to the top and/or bottom of the scabbard so there is no exposed scabbard top and/or bottom edge. The heatshrink tubing is shrunk using a heat gun, and it shrinks up to 1/2 its cross sectional size to conform to shapes, which in this case, to the hard plastic core material. The heat shrink tubing reduces only in cross sectional size - not in length. This sale is for one 21" piece of hard plastic core material plus one piece of 24" soft plastic heatshrink material (sword and knife not included).

These scabbard materials are durable materials that should last a very long time. They are very resistant to moisture, oils, salt spray and a wide variation of temperatures and humidity. Water, oils and dirt can only enter the scabbard through its top or bottom (if bottom is left open) - never soaking through either scabbard material itself. And both materials are very easily cleaned. The hard plastic is smooth to permit quick removal of the knife or sword from the scabbard, and for insertion back into it (if the blade does not fit too tightly). The blade can also be lubricated for even faster scabbard action. The hard plastic core material has less stiction to it than any other material We have ever seen used as a scabbard core material. Whether or not you survive a situation in which a knife or sword is required (e.g. being attacked by a feral animal) often depends upon how quickly you remove the knife or sword from its scabbard!
There are numerous scabbard, holder and other related uses of these materials. The most common use is as an inner scabbard form in which a crafts person then embellishes it with a leather, cloth or decorative outer finish. For example, a piece of leather with belt slots and a tie-down loop can be cemented to the back of the hard plastic core length you cut for your scabbard, after curing of cement, the heatshrink is slipped over the hard plastic core and leather, and then heat-shrunk to hold the leather even more securely, and then the outer layer of the heatshrink is covered with more leather, plastic or cloth.
These scabbard materials can also produce working scabbard that one can use to hold and position edged devices while doing additional shop work on them, for example, while adding a hilt or handle or painting, decorating, repairing or restoring the blade's hilt or handle. The hard plastic core material can also be used as a travel and field scabbard for your blades so that your blades are well-protected in your tool box, enroute and in the field (e.g. hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, climbing, spelunking, construction sites, etc.), while at the same time, you can separately store or pack the corresponding decorative scabbard that you use only for your display, sale, storage and other minimal handling situations in safe, clean and controlled environments. A knife or sword always displays and sells better if its original scabbard is in pristine condition. The scabbard you make can also be integrated with a gun holster, saddle, tool belt, boot, etc. You can also make scabbards for your tools, such as chisels and small bits, to keep them clean, dry and safe between jobs. And you can easily make scabbards for your kitchen knives as well, which will not only make them safer to handle but will also protect them from dust and germs floating around in the air eager to land on exposed surfaces, such a knife blades.
These materials make great temporary scabbards you can use to protect knife, sword and tool blades you find at gun shows, flea markets, garage sales and antique stores being sold without their original scabbards (and likely at bargain prices because they lack their scabbards). It sure beats walking around with an exposed blade or sharpened point, or putting it in your carry bag where it can cut or poke through. And if you sell knives, swords and tools with sharp edges or pointed tips, you no doubt have some that don't have scabbards, and even a temporary scabbard is much better than no scabbard at all. Like everything else, scabbards get lost, damaged and worn out, and leather (used to make most scabbards) rots away over the years and decades (especially when used in a rugged or outdoor environment), so many knives, swords and tools still in great shape (especially antiques) no longer have their scabbards, and without scabbards, they have lost much of their utility and value.
Working on these materials is pretty easy. The scabbard material should be slowly cut on a sturdy surface using a fine saw blade generally used for hard steels. The bottom end of the hard plastic core can be "V"-cut to make it conform more to the point end shapes of most knives and swords. You can close the tip of the pointed end with cement (some plastic cements work good with it), or close the pointed or flat end with a screw(s) or rivet(s) so loose tool blades don't fall through. We generally leave the bottom open to permit ventilation so that when outdoors in a humid environment, a little ventilation much reduces any condensation that might otherwise build up inside the scabbard due to high humidity conditions. The heatshrink tubing is shrunk to fit using a heat gun. Most hair dryers don't get hot enough. The heatshrink can also be shrunk using an open flame, radiated stove or oven heat or a large soldering iron. The important thing to remember when shrinking heatshrink tubing is to keep the item rotating and moving in the heat environment so that the heat is evenly distributed and uniformly shrinks the heatshrink as hot spots can cause warped shrinking and even melt the hard plastic core underneath. And then heat the heatshrink tubing just to the point that it shrinks to fit the form - once it has shrunk, remove the heat source.
Scabbards are not only very important in protecting the blade from being exposed to moisture, salts, oils, solvents, dirt, mechanical damage such as edge dulling/chipping and point breaking/blunting, etc., but also to protect those who can come in contact with the blade (especially children and animals), on purpose or accidentally, from getting cut or injured by the blade. Even if you are currently fully outfitted with scabbards for all of your blades, if you unexpectantly lose or damage a scabbard, you could be left with a dangerous exposed blade - it is a very good idea to have spare scabbard material readily available so that you can make yourself at least a temporary replacement scabbard in such situations.
These scabbard materials are antistatic and excellent thermal insulators and electrical insulators. And both scabbard materials are lightweight and durable. The hard plastic core material is transparent (while most are untinted, some come in tints like yellow, amber, blue - we can only send what we have available), so that you can handle and view the blade through the core material (as shown) while it is being protected by the hard plastic core from skin contact. Note that the hard plastic core material is rigid; therefore, if your knife, sword or bladed tool is curved beyond the 1-1/4" overall scabbard width, this scabbard material will not work with it. Also note that the standard size we usually get this material in is 21" long; however, we don't manufacture this material or cut it from longer stock but just get it as shown, so length may vary from about 20.5" to close to 24", and each each stick of the hard plastic core material has one or two small holes punched in the ends, which can be adapted for tie-down or other purpose. Note that this hard plastic core material was NOT manufactured originally for scabbard use but to store highly specialized steel and plastic industrial parts for periods of years to decades; however, it just so happens to also be an excellent scabbard core material which this additional application for it we invented (to the best of my knowledge and belief), and this is why we both use and sell it as scabbard material.

VERSATILE POSITIONING JIG

Used and works great and is very useful. Heavy duty, industrial grade. We do not know who made this or what it was originally designed to do. Do you? This serves as a versatile positioning clamping jig. The black knob in bottom image causes the mechanism at top of device to slide left and right along the rod, allowing you to precisely adjust its position. The spring-loaded clamping mechanism above it separates to allow 4 different shaped rods, pipes, tubes or heavy wire to be inserted into this clamping mechanism and then clamped down, as well as various odd-shaped parts and stock. At the bottom of both images is a "U" shaped 4" long handle which allows this device to be bolted onto a square piece of wood, metal or pipe, or secured by a clamp or vise to secure it to a work surface. In the top image, this handle points towards you, and in the bottom image it points away from you.

If job efficiency and speed are important to you, this press / compressor is well-designed and practically unbeatable as set up and release of objects of even highly varying thicknesses being pressed / compressed is easy and fast. Press will handle books, piles of papers, cardboard or anything else you want to press together (up to 8" thick), for examples, to do glue jobs / cement jobs, to press leaves / press flowers, to squeeze out water from cloth, to do prints, to press in indentations / stampings / embossings, for molds, to press electronic components / mechanical components into assemblies, to keep object in a fixed position so it doesn't move around or shift while you are tooling it or painting it, etc. Uses are virtually endless!

Boards are 12" x 7" x 1/2" plywood and are somewhat aged and worn, but you can easily replace them with other boards, metal plates, plastic plates, molds, frames, etc., as they are attached with screws. And of course you can always sandwich between the boards other boards, tempered glass, plastic plates, metal plates, moldings, etc. of various sizes and shapes. The center of the clamp stands 4" from the front edge of the steel shaft that holds the clamp assembly. This means that for boards or plates upto 8" wide, the clamp can be exactly centered. You can substitute or sandwich in boards, etc. up to about 12" wide (if you don't require exact clamp centering) and up to about 16" long for larger works, and of course you can always use smaller boards, etc. as you wish.

The right part of second image shows the bottom of the press and how it sits on surfaces. The top board or plate is easily removed once you release the pressure on it so that you get good visibility in placing and positioning your work on top of the bottom board or plate. Initial positioning is made by quickly sliding up the clamp assembly with its top board/plate along the steel shaft, similarly to how many long carpenter clamps work, and then positioning the top board / plate and snugly tightening down with the clamp's worm screw mechanism to compress the object.

This press is moderate in weight compared to typical worm-screw only presses (which we also sell, see my webpages), and with its convenient "carrying handle" (i.e. the steel shaft), it is highly portable and easy to transport, place, set up and manueuver on the fly on work benches, work tables, pick-up beds, van shops, and other work surfaces. If you replace the boards with metal plates, you can even use the press on a heated surfaces to do hot presses.

VINTAGE DENTURE PRESS

I bought two of these in an estate sale; this sale is for the last one of them. Surviving son told us that his father was a dentist and used these presses decades ago to make dentures. Great for the auto shop, machine shop, crafts shop, hobby shop / general shop, factory, other business, and home as a press, clamp or vise. Weighs about 13 lbs. Height is 10.5" when cranked all the way down. Handle is 11.5" long, which can of course be extended for greater pressing power using a pipe extension. Plate area is 7" X 4" (upper round press plate is 4" in dia.). Clearance can be varied from 1" to 5-1/8" for thick objects. Horizontal clearance is 4-1/2" wide, so it easily takes 2x4 amd 4x4 lumber and 4" pipe. Worm screw is 3/4" thick steel. While We have had it cranked down to several 100s of pounds of pressure, best we could tell, it was not even close to its limit (which is not stated on is unknown). The screw-press does have surface rust on it but as far as we can tell, the does not appreciably affect either its operation or maximum applied force. However, since neither the base nor the bottom of the round upper press plate is real smooth, the user might want to slide in 1/4" - 1" thick hardwood, pressed board, metal, plastic or rubber surfaces, according to what suits his/her needs best when smooth contact is required. Can be easily mounted on a work bench, work table, pick up truck bed, RV, van, camper, etc.

ROTATIONAL PRESS: LAMINATIONS, IMAGE TRANSFERS,

Used and in great condition. This is a steel rotational press which manually presses items together using two steel rollers, similar to some printing presses. Rollers are 10-1/2" wide. Spacing between rollers is adjustable up to several inches (each side is adjusted independently to achieve just the right pressure and to accommodate uneven work). These presses have endless and critical uses for the general shop, crafts, hobbies, model-making, printing, photography, etc. For example, one can carve out a logo, figures, message, etc. on a square of linoleum, ink it up and run it through the press to tranfer the image onto paper, cardboard, plastic, metal, wood, etc. For example, one can use it to cement to items together under the pressure of the rollers. Except for some surface discoloration in the bottom roller and on the 19-1/2" x 10-1/2" x 1/8" heavy steel plate, the press is in mint condition. There is no pitting on either the rollers or the plate. The steel plate can be used as a press plate for the pressing process, or a bottom plate to hold or collect items related to the pressing process, put it on blocks and use it as a feeding tray, or for whatever other press or non-press use you can make of it. The original handle got lost, so we made a steel handle that in my opinion works better than the original handle. This press does not heat the work. It does not come with a manual, but it is simple and straightforward to use.

Weighs about 50 lbs. 14.25" tall when cranked all the way down. 12" long handle (which can be extended for greater pressing power using a pipe extension. Plate area is 5" x 8" and raises up to 4" for thick objects, and cranks all the way down until the top and bottom plates seat together for paper-thin objects. Plates heat up to very hot (so be careful!), so thermal press can be used as hot press or cold press - whatever your jobs call for. Worm screw is 1" thick steel. While We have had it cranked down to about 1,000 lbs of pressure, best we could tell, it was not even close to its limit (which is not stated on its boiler plate and is unknown).

Just consider some of the practically unlimited clamp, vise and press functions that a press like this can do for you with the appropriate dies and forms (no dies or forms come with it): (1) Flattening metal, bending metal, forming metal shaping metal, and swaging metal. (2) Pressing on cold or hot patches, silkscreens, logos, signatures, boiler plates, etc. (3) Burning images or melt images under pressure into wood and plastic. (4) Using "cookie cutter" type dies to cut out or punch either cold or hot shapes in wood, plastics and light metals. (5) Printing press. (6) Crushing or pulverizing rocks, bones, and other crushable objects and materials for mechanical, thermal, geological, archaeological, paleontological, forensic, chemical, biological, biomedical, etc. applications. (7) Press fitting gears, pins and rivets. (8) As a punch press. (9) Embossing images and lettering into just about anything that can fit into it that is wood, plastic and thin/soft metals. Used and works great. This rare and unique stamping tool was originally made for stamping livestock in the mouth as a form of branding them. However, it has many other practical uses where one needs to uniquely identify something in a way that is both permanent (cannot be erased or covered up and won't wear out) and very difficult to counterfeit. You dial in the 4-digit serial number by rotating the wheels at the top of the tool head. Each digit consists of a number of 1/4"-long pointed steel spikes arrayed in the form of a digit (0 - 9) which penetrates or at least indents the material being marked. See upper right of image to see what the stamping looks like. Works especially well with soft-to-medium materials such as leather, plastic, some metals and wood, and flesh between 1/32" to 1/4" thick. Also makes a great collectible. CARBON COMPOSITE CONE FORM /

Like new. Heavy, very hard, and apparently a 100% carbon composite cone form, apparently precision-machined and not cast. We can barely scratch it with a sharp X-Acto knife. Actual weight is 1.5 lbs and feels very solid. Base is 6.5" diameter, and it is about 3" tall. Undersided (not shown) is hollow in the cone area, about 2" deep to tip of cone, making the cone surface itself probably about 1" thick. Base "ring" is solid 1.25" wide all around and 1" tall. Material is an electrical insulator material and not magnetic. This is definitely some kind of industrial, scientific or laboratory type cone form. Can be used as a form for shaping, as some kind of mount or mold form, for scientific experiments and science fairs, to launch experimental rockets from, for various crafts, general shop uses, display uses, as part of a mold for casting, and as a cover of some type - many possible different uses. We collect weird scientific and electronic devices, and this is the first one of these we 've ever run into. Do you know what it is? This is apparently one of those kinds of things that when you need one, they are almost impossible to find and nothing else will do.

RARE ANTIQUE SIMONDS SLOTTED TOOL,
"NO. 6 PATENTED"

Used and works great. This rare Simonds slotted tool seems like it may have a practical use for rolling ribbon or similar material up. Someone told us it was a common tool used in conjunction with weaving looms back in the 1920s. Three other persons told us that it is a handle for a Simonds crosscut saw - a two-man crosscut saw used for felling large trees in the lumber industry - a Simond saw handle is most probably its actual original use. However, it can also be used for holding a scraping, cutting or chopping head (e.g. axe head). Or for holding or positioning a wedge. Or for aligning big nails or stakes. Or for opening or closing containers that have a rectangular head that fits into the slot. Also makes a great tool collectible. We bought it at an estate sale where the family told us it was `about 100 years old.' We are collecting rare, weird and old tools for decades now. We have never run into another tool like this one. Slot is 3-1/2" long and 3/16" wide with an adjustable washer. It has seen a lot of use, and its surface finish is rough. A nice collectible or integrated into a crafts project.

Rare and in excellent condition. We saw ones like these on a train decades ago when we was a child (Dad was Santa Fe Conductor). However, we can't recall what exactly they were used for. They appear to be wall hangings. They also have a re-enforced 5/8" center hole, so possibly they could have been used as leg supports to suspend a pipe or tube (or paper roll / fabric roll / carpet roll / plastic sheeting roll between them, e.g. a butcher paper holder), which in turn could have suspended a pot or some other load. The facing small holes could have been used for rods, threaded at the ends for nuts, to complete the assembly, or to install some other tool or structure, example, a paper-cutter blade. Should you want to use them for some type of holder, you can specify the distance the "stands" are apart to fit your applications (within the mechanical limits of the Item). Made of iron or steel, very sturdy, painted black. 13" x 7-3/8" x 3/16" thick.

(2) DOUBLE "V" CLAMPING SYSTEM
w/ HOLDING TROUGH, 12"

Used and in great condition. We don't know what these "V" clamps were originally designed to do. Each clamp system consists of a trough-like structure that is 11-1/2" long and 1-5/8" wide at the top which tapers down on all sides to about 9" long and 1/2" wide at the bottom, and about 1-1/8" deep. Each has two sliding clamps with it. At the bottom is a clamp that slides along a slot at the very bottom, and that tightens using two knobs, and that looks like it clamps to a flat rail or bar of some type. The top clamp slides along and above the top lip of the trough, and is used to clamp down whatever you are working on or want to secure in the trough. These things look like they are used to hold down or secure something in the trough perhaps for soaking, washing, cleaning, grinding, polishing, machining, painting, carving, soldering, etc. They look like they were originally designed for some type of photographic, jewelry-making or laboratory purpose, but can be further adapted for many general shop, craft, hobby, model-making, etc. uses. We do not know the make or model or age. This is a kind of tool which has many uses, is very versatile, but when you need it virtually nothing will substitute for it. I bought brass ice tongs at an estate sale. We was told that it was made in the 1930s - not quite antique yet, but certainly vintage. These brass tongs do not have any stampings on it as to manufacturer or part number. We do not know the family and we are not an expert on this kind of Item, so we do not make any claims as to this account. Great as a display for the fine home, office, restaurant, tavern, tourist attraction! The image shows the tongs on a tiled background, tiles are 12" x 12" size. Without a tray like this, you might end up splashing hot meat juices all over your Aunt Mildred's Sunday finery or the carving knife might slip and you also carve up your Uncle Bob. This works simply. The "dot" pairs you see in the middle are small, 1/2" long stainless steel points that you rest the meat on top of so the meat doesn't slide around on the meat tray as you carry the loaded tray or cut or serve the meat. The stainless steel rod assembly at the bottom is attached to the groove arc on the right edge of the tray. It is then positioned for the option position over the meat should you still need greater control of the meat, and then lowered and driven into the meat to hold the meat from the top. It looks real professional in full operation. This tray is used for carrying, cutting and serving meats - not for cooking anything. Tray body is wood, and it has sturdy stainless steel carrying handles at both ends. Tray is shown leaned against a wood chair to give an idea of how really big it is - easily handling even very big turkeys. Tray can also be used to carry bread, cakes, etc., and is easy to clean. Disassembled, as shown, it is easy to store in many kitchens.

Used and excellent condition. Valdor Fiber Optics case / valise, w/ hard plastic shell and padded inside, 16"x14"x4". Very high quality. Originally designed to hold 8-10 Valdor instruments, it can be adapted for many other instruments and instrument combinations. Darker portions in bottom, right image are the recessed parts of the bottom padding. The dark rectangle at top of this image appears darker than the rest because there is no cushioning at its bottom. This Valdor Fiber Optics case is very versatile, has practically endless uses. Recessed spaces vary in width to permit thick meters and tools to PC cards and slim hard drives, and most recesses are long enough to accommodate two handheld meters. Medium-width recesses are great for probes, transducers, parts, and tools with handles. You can of course carve or remove the inside cushioning to you liking.

WWII SIGNAL CORPS INSTRUMENT CASE,

Used and in very good condition. We bought it at an estate sale. Believed to be of WWII vintage according to the family. Not only is this very strong and durable steel box a great military collectible, but it can also serve as a really strong and secure case for keeping valuable instrumentation, precision tools, other collectibles, and expensive other items such as jewelry, gems and precious stones, coins, fossils, important rocks, etc. It individually unlatches from both its top and bottom to provide padded spaces for securely storing and protecting valuable items. First image shows the top and front of the box, which measures 11" x 4.25" x 3". The top, left of the second image shows the box with both its top and bottom opened up. Bottom, left of second image shows the boiler plate on the box (this is all of the information we have on these boxes; do you know more about them?). The right side of the second image shows the top and bottom sliding latches, with one in the latched position and one unlatched. Truly remarkable collectible, as well as also being very useful!
