Fluke is one of the best makers of electronic test meters and electronic metering systems ever. This powerful Fluke Model 78 vehicle DMM is designed to accurately measure voltages, currents (upto 20A), resistance, continuity (with beeper), diode function, frequency (sinewave and square wave; 1Hz - 850KHz), duty cycle (0.0% - 99.9%), temperature (degrees F, degrees C), RPM, and dwell. Used and in good condition last time we used it. Great as a vintage electronics collectible. And great for the engineer or technician working with high voltage. Kilovolt setting upto 100 KV. The ports on top are used for two glass capacitor high-voltage dividers (not included as we no longer have them). The high-voltage capacitor dividers are about a foot long with the spherical high voltage terminals at the end. However, a skilled technical person probably can fabricate a safe and useful replacement high-voltage dividers made out of high-voltage insulator material less fragile than glass. 11" x 9" x 9".

We bought a lot of 10 metal detectors at an estate sale (mostly Fisher VLF 443 metal detectors), are keeping the first two we tested because they worked perfect, and are selling the rest untested. The discrimination found in modern metal detectors will often tune out small pieces of gold - not always a desirable feature. The Fisher 440 Series metal detectors were specifically designed to provide extremely powerful ground rejection, ultra-stable operation, maximum depth, and no discrimination. The Fisher VLF 443 is mostly used by prospectors and others for detecting precious metals in highly mineralized soils and sands. The Fisher Model VLF 443 metal detectors have only a minimum of controls backed by highly reliable and rugged Fisher circuitry, inside a lightweight and protective heavy duty aluminum housing. Frankly, this is a smaller, compact lower-end model that's great for youngsters, beginners, occasional metal detector hobbyists, as a backup unit, to explore particularly grimy or risky situations where you don't want to expose your best unit, as an area pre-screening metal detector, as a training tool, construction sites, as a stage prop, and where storage would preclude one of those big grand units. New old stock (NOS). These shielded inductors are square and about 5/16" on a side and 3/8" tall (excluding pins). Coil is center-tapped (3-pins). Inductance is tunable from about 3mH to about 7.5mH (nominally set at about 5mH). These 5mH inductors are very useful in a variety of designs, including signal, RF, pulse generation, pick-up coil, transmitting coil, etc. We mostly use them to design some brainwave detection devices as they are sensitive to brainwaves.

Several things make these inductor coils ideal for brainwave and mind control research and applications: (1) Relatively high inductance for small physical size. (2) Small physical size for greater pinpointing of signals. (3) Outer shielding which not only minimizes the pick-up of stray electromagnetic fields, such as from power lines and transformers, but also provides physical strength to the inductor body. (4) Center-tapping for either tapping off two sets of signals isolated from each other, or for inserting a signal or DC voltage on one leg while inserting or extracting the resultant brainwave signal from the other leg.

LARGE, ADJUSTABLE STEEL INDUCTOR COIL -
Great for Theremins, Antennas, Metal Detectors, Tank Circuits, Crafts, Toys, etc.

Used but in very good condition. We purchased this in an electronics surplus store. These large springy metal inductors have practically endless uses ranging from electronics, crafts, toys, model making, science projects / science fairs, etc. Compressed, they are 2-1/2" diameter and 2-1/2" long. The conductor coil itself is about 1/8" wide and 1/32" thick. It fully expands to about 10 feet long. Inductance varies from about 240 µH (240µH, 99% compressed) to less than 40 µH (40µH, extended to about 6 feet).

If you hold both ends and extend this metal inductor, it will sag in the middle. What we normally do is use a wood or plastic (not metal) broom handle, dowel rod, 2"x2" lumber, or heavy-duty carboard shipping tube as a stiff form to string the inductor out on to maintain spring shape. For those uses, such as antennas, where we need to keep the inductor length constant, we cement the ends to the form, and sometimes spot cement some of the spring coils in between.

I love to use these inductors in the tank circuits of homebuilt Theremin devices. A "Theremin" is an audio special effects device that dates back to about the 1920s, commonly used in those old horror and science fiction movies to produce those scary sounds. By expanding and compressing the coils, the circuit's LC tank circuit inductance is changed, thereby also changing the output frequencies, resulting in very unusual Theremin-like sounds. Similar sounds can also be produced by rubbing, flicking or moving the coils with an insulated iron bar. You can get endless hours of fun and entertainment out of it, and it has real potential of being developed into its own unique musical instrument to produces the really cool and unique sounds for some of today's music.

This inductor also serves as a pretty good antenna and metal detector coil. It has many exciting uses for the electronic hobbyist, and for science projects, science fairs, and classroom demonstrations. It can be used as a big, strong electromagnet because of the strong magnetic field it can be made to produce.

It also has crafts and shop uses. For examples, it can be used to make toys of various kinds, as well as other craft creations, such as lamps, figures, etc. And it can also be mechanically used to protect, reinforce and organize many different kinds of items such as bundles of wires and cables, long tools, tubes, pipes, rods and other shop stock.

This inductor looks a lot like a "slinky" toy. If it is a "slinky" toy it is not like any slinky that we played with as a kid, which were much larger and less springy feeling and not designed for electronic uses, and which we have never tested electronically.

New old stock (NOS). Very versatile and rare type of induction coil / antenna coil about as wide and thick as a credit card, and about 400 microhenry inductance. Especially nice for stealthly slipping inside of electronic equipment through slots, slits, joints and cracks, and between closely packed card stacks to pickup and detect important signals and/or to inject certain signals into the equipment, such as control signals.

If you've ever tried to make a coil like this, you will appreciate just how very difficult they are to make. Even some advanced electronic shops have problems trying to make them. We currently have about 100 of these very rare handmade coils available for possible sales; this sale is for one of them; and prices will likely increase as my supply diminishes.

This truly remarkable inductor coil can be used as a receiving coil / pickup coil / near-field coil / transmitting coil, continuous wave or pulsed operation. Two can be used together as a very flat transformer, or as some type of a detection / analysis / testing setup (e.g. the object to be detected, analyzed, tested or processed is placed or occurs between the coils), as a "through-wall" set of communications coils (e.g. transmitting coil is laid flat on wall or other separator and receiving coil is laid flat on other side of wall / other separator opposite to the transmitting coil). These magnetic transducers / magnetic probes / magnetic electrodes / magnetic field probes / brainwave electrodes / brain probes can be used for both detecting/receiving and transmitting magnetic fields and as a small electromagnets, depending upon the piece of equipment it is connected to (under 100ma current). Originally bought for brainwave research, these magnetic transducers can be used for many applications, including but not limited to, brainwave detection, other psychic and paranormal research, other medical/biomedical research, small magnetic field detection, small metal detection, bug detection/tap detection (as well as bugging and tapping), some implant detection, isolated communications, material flaw detection, magnetic therapies, magnetic stimulations, magnetic key decoding, etc. These magnetic probes are also ideal for many magnetometer and field-strength meter devices and uses.

Cable length is 6-foot and is of a very high quality and pliable coaxial cable (coaxial cabling is required to absolutely minimize electrical noise pick-up). These magnetic transducers are about 1/4" diameter and about 1/2" long - an incredible 12mH inductance, 25 ohms, for their small size. On the other end is connected a mini-phone plug (we also have a few each with RCA plug, sub-mini phone plug and spade lugs, so if you need one of these, let us know). These magnetic transducers will both receive and transmit magnetic energy from about 0.3 Hz to about 300 KHz pulse, modulated and sinewave signals - covering the entire audio frequency bandwidth (BW), as well as most of the infrasonic BW and air ultrasonic BW.

When used in conjunction with a commercially-available audio amplifier or recorder, these magnetic transducers should be wired in as a dynamic microphone. Both infrasonic amplifiers and ultrasonic amplifiers are also available from us.

For use with living tissues (plant or animal), penetration or even direct contact to surface is not required, however, contact should be as close to surface as possible as air gaps diminish effectiveness. This means that these magnetic probes are non-invasive, and one does not have to use a gel, shave the area, touch the skin or other surface, or suffer electrode irritation (common to skin contact and invasive electrodes) to effectively use it. And that these magnetic probes can be effectively used over most light clothing and plastic wrap. As with all magnetic transducers, especially those used for sensitive or precision magnetic detection jobs, the magnetic transducer should be held as steadily as possible. This can be done using a steady hand, rubber bands, velcro or shower cap with a hole in it to pass the cable or tape (none of these are provided). For permanent use and non-living area contact, you might also consider using a cement, glue or other firm adhesive to attach the transducer rock-solid to the surface.

The SUPER SOFT-PINCH ELECTRODES (SSPE) are a very special non-invasive external electrode pair (non-invasive electrodes) which gently, yet securely, pinches onto fingers, toes, ears, nose, loose skin, plant parts, rough and uneven surfaces, etc., and do not require any skin penetration, gel, saline solution, pad, tape or elastic band to work. The Soft-Pinch Electrodes are very versatile spring-operated and bifurcated on both sides (2-tine fork-like). Because these electrodes are bifurcated, other electrodes can be connected to them in series or even groups if you wish using screws. Can be used as experimental and monitoring radionic electrodes, biomedical electrodes (bio electrodes), biofeedback electrodes (BF electrodes), paranormal electrodes, electronic attack electrodes, mind control electrodes, etc. Can be used on people, animals, plants, and even inert objects. These SSPE biomedical electrodes are used in numerous and varied types of experimental mind and brain research, biomedical uses, and general electronic lab and shop uses (we also sell much of the equipment we used with these biomedical electrodes for our biomedical, bioelectric, biofeedback, mind control, plant research, etc. experiments). These electrodes should not cause any bruising, skin penetration, pain or discomfort, yet hold on tight enough to not detach or slip due to some motion. For tighter holds, you can use pliers to bend the flexible tynes to increase electrode grip and/or to better fit onto round or odd-shaped objects. The spring-operated biomedical electrode is made of steel (copper-like color in images is artifact of photo under-exposure - SSPE biomedical electrodes are bright, shiny steel). These electrodes are about 2" long, 3/16" wide, bifurcated at its business end, and are reinforced to the cable with a sheath of about 2" of durable plastic for many years of reliable service.

The bifurcated electrode is far superior in versatility and usefulness than the common single-end electrode because: (1) It permits better gripping and contact on uneven surfaces and soft surfaces for the same pressure, (2) It allows for more accurate spot check readings taken between the bioelectric electrode tynes (e.g. connecting up an oscilloscope or meter directly to the electrode in situ; oscilloscope and meter not included), (3) It allows for the interleaving of two biomedical electrodes (e.g. while one electrode transmits a signal to the subject, the other electrode monitors the signal within a fraction of an inch from each other), and (4) Other electrodes of various types, connectors and devices (and more than one at the same time) can be screwed directly to the electrode through the slot between the tynes.

On the other end of the SSPE electrode cable is terminated by your choice of end connector: BNC, banana plugs, pin plugs, spade lugs, "eye" lugs, alligator clips, bare wire, etc., (lugs are assumed if you don't specify). This end connector is generally connected to the equipment using a screw (screws sizes up to #8), and is plated for optimum conductivity. This connector end is also reinforced to the cable with a sheath of durable plastic for maximum electrode life time.

After many 100s of hours of testing SSPE biomedical electrodes, including some high voltage and dry outdoors uses, we have found them to be very useful, reliable and versatile, and have not broken one yet. The SSPE biomedical electrode cabling is very resilient to aging, cracking, dirt, grime, grease, oils, salt water, light acids, light alkalies, solvents, current leaks, shorts, arcing over, high and low temperature, and high and low humidity. Unlike the typical button electrode, this biomedical electrode is not designed to passively lay flat on the surface it is to be used on, but to be attached using its gentle clamping action, and therefore it can be attached, removed and moved around quickly and dynamically should you choose to do so. This electrode does not have a built-in amplifier (not an "active electrode"), but the signals it picks up can be viewed on a quality oscilloscope.

Electronic biofeedback thermometer is portable and battery-operated. Generally employed for biofeedback, relaxation and stress reduction, and in mind control and brainwave entrainment research. It is 10.5" x 8" x 4.5", and built into a strong case, with a big easy-to-read meter. COMES WITH PROBES AND MANUAL. The two big, Eveready Energizer No. 266 (Neda 1605) 9-volt batteries it came with are depleted. We do not have replacements for these batteries; however, the power connectors to the system can be easily re-wired for the 9-volt radio batteries and 9-volt DC power adapters commonly used today. We did not make this change because vintage equipment collectors prefer that such rare, vintage equipment be left as much in its original condition as possible, and new or rechargeable No. 266 batteries may be still available somewhere. Will be shipped without batteries installed. Since We have not been able to test this system, we are selling it "as is."

ELECTRONIC USES: These new steel pins work really great to test breadboard circuits, as temporary or permanent test points for breadboards and PC board circuits, and as jumpers for breadboard and PC board circuits (breadboard jumpers / PC board jumpers). These electronic test pins are 1-3/4" inches long, 1/2" wide at the top, 18 gauge steel wire, and have two pins (legs) which are pointed at both ends to ease insertion into breadboard circuit board and connector connection feed-through holes. One great advantage of these test pins is that the wire is wavy at the top, permitting fast, easy and secure connections with 1, 2 or 3 simultaneous probes of the wide variety, types and sizes of probes used with test equipment, signal generators, power supplies, jumpers, etc., as shown. Because the test pin is made of stiff and strong wire (other similar pins are made of much softer wire and thus not good electronic test pins as they bend too easily), it works well with even big and heavy test probes and with relatively rough handling. Another major feature of these testpins is that these wavy connection points are horizontally offset from the pin insertion points so that you can clearly see and work in the test area where the pin is inserted because the test probe(s) is not in your way. This translates into easier and faster testing and repairs. Having tested 1,000s of circuit boards over the years, we can attest that this feature alone is a great convenience by eliminating the major annoyance of the typical straight test pins of having to constantly peer around the test pin to observe the components under test and make adjustments and changes as needed. For test pin purposes, we usually clip off one of the pins and put a short piece of heat shrink tubing on the remaining pin to minimize inadvertant circuit shorts. Also, these testpins make great jumpers, with easily modifiable spacing adjustments as necessary by simply bending the wavy part and clipping to length. Also, you can cut these test pins between the two wavy points to produce two identical test pins of one pin each to double the number of your test pins / test points. Used and in great condition. Electrical probe, dual electrodes, PL-259 connector w/ PL-259-to-BNC adapter. This is an unmarked dual-electrode probe that does not come with a user manual or original packaging. We do not know what its original application is. It is rugged, heavy-duty and very high quality. Probe is used and in excellent functional condition. We checked and continuity is fine between the probe electrodes and connector pins. The probe has a heavy sliding slam handle in the middle, very similar to a car dent puller tool. This is so you can drive the probe through tough materials with just the right force and no need for a hammer to pound it in. Only the exposed ends of the electrodes are conductive, so measurements are made only between the electrode tips.

This device is very versatile. It can be used to measure something at the electrode end and/or to deliver electrical power or electronic signal to the electrode end, depending upon the equipment you have it connected to. We do not think that it is used on soil, but perhaps to penetrate something tough but relatively uniform like animal hides, tree bark, etc. The probe is clean and free of odors so We have no idea how it was previously used or how much used.

The probe's PL-259 connector is the same connector type used in many, especially older, CB radios, and is found on some electronic test equipment. A BNC adapter is also provided to connect it up to many types of test equipment and signal generators with BNC connectors. Cable is 3' 8" long. Electrodes are about 1/16" thick steel, 1-1/8" long and 1" apart. Electrodes are screwed ON and can be replaced with the same type of electrodes or with other electrodes, probes, connectors and other parts which will fit.

Probe looks cosmetically very good except for a few scruff marks on body opposite side of cable feed. Probe is about 12-1/4" long and 1-3/4" dia. CAUTION: Electrode tips are pointed and sharp, so please handle with care.

Used device, and it worked very well last time we used it (3 years ago). We then removed it from its installation to do a home improvement, and stored it inside. We are not able to test this detection system, so we can't now test it on a practical basis to see if it still works, so we can't guarantee it other than it does power up. Great for burglar alarms and security systems, and for scientific experimentation. It works by projecting a lens-focused light beam (not laser) from a light beam emitter to its light beam detector (a photocell). Anything interrupting the light beam is detected as an intrusion. The device cases show some cosmetic wear and tear from handling and installation.

New old stock (NOS), 18-pin DIP/DIL. LM3914N Bargraph and LED Dot Display Drivers, 10-Segment Programmable Display Drivers, by National Semiconductor. Efficient and parts stingy - eliminates need for output resistors and complex control circuitry. The LM3914 operates from a power supplies of 3VDC or less upto 25VDC, and with ±3 volts to ±35 volts inputs. These very versatile LM3914-type display drivers illuminate the kinds of varying-length LED displays (or low-current incandescent lamps, LCD displays or vacuum fluorescent displays, and are also both TTL and CMOS compatible). LM3914 ICs are commonly used to visually display audio sound volumes, scanner signal strengths, detector signal strengths, analog meter voltage levels, visual alarms, scale readings, and for controlling sequencers, programmers, staging control systems, etc. All outputs are individual current regulated up to 30ma, and open collector (1,365 mW max total dissipation). These LM3914N ICs can be daisy-chained to illuminate up to 100 segments, and by daisy-chaining two LM3914, you can use the outputs as a zero-voltage meter. They can also be used with both modular LED bar displays (LED bargraph displays) and LED dot displays (e.g. Kingbright SL555, Kingbright SL556, Kingbright SL557), and with individual LEDs of any color or mixed colors you want. LM3914 outputs may be wired to more than one device, for example, to both an LED and a transistor. By buffering the outputs with transistors, these LM3914 ICs can also be used to drive other much higher loads as well, such as relays, solenoids, lamps, bells and other sounders, heater elements, igniters, etc. Easy to use, and efficiently uses circuit board space.

Of its many powerful features, what makes the LM3914 so special is that you can select its display mode, and even dynamically switch between display modes: Dot Mode or Bargraph Mode (Pin #9). In Dot Mode, ONLY the output which corresponds with the input voltage range that activates it is activated. Great for selecting one and only one output function at a time. In the Bar Mode, not only is this output activated but also all outputs which are activated at lower voltages. Great for visualizing output levels and changes, such as music volume levels.

This Dranetz Series 808 power analyzer includes the meter analyzer itself, plus the very strong, latchable, padded Case, plus three Isolated C.T. Termination modules, plus three AEMC Meter Clamp-On Power modules (600V), plus power cord and cabling, plus extra rolls, plus "User's Guide for Series 808 Electric Power/Demand Analyzer" manual. While we can't be certain, this Dranetz Series 808 assemblage appears to be complete with everything and it is fully functional. The UWLD&L is simple and fast to operate; it has two pointed parallel probes at the end, which you push into the earth along the water line path, usually to a depth of 2" - 10" (depending on depth of water line, soil hardness and rocks in the soil). If the soil resistance between the probes drop, then the soil is more conductive at that spot. The UWLD&L can also be used to puncture the ground to aerate the soil, to quickly pick up trash blown onto your yard and plants, to pick high fruit from trees, to gig fish, and even to ward off feral animals. You can also use the UWLD&L to test for soil wetness for gardening and agriculture purposes to determine how well and uniform your irrigation system is providing water for your plants, your fishing worm bed, etc., to help you determine when, how often and how much to water.
