Big, visible analog display easily viewed at much longer distances than most temperature gauges and thermostats. You simply move the end contacts to the temperatures you want the Winland to alert or switch to using a small screwdriver. The center contact indicates the temperature; if the temperature rises or falls, the center contact moves in that direction. When it comes into contact with one of the end contacts, it acts like the closure of a switch, which then can be used to activate an alert and/or to switch in heater or cooler controller to heat or cool the area to keep the temperature under control through your selected range. We don't know what it is rated at; we've tested the contacts at 120 VAC and 160 VDC and 10A and it worked fine. Great for regulating temperature ranges for home and business use, for experiments, and for equipment and real property you have left alone for some time and you don't want to overheat and/or get too cold. EPCOS PTC thermistors / current-limiting temperature sensors, positive temperature coefficient. Actual color is silver-grey. At 65 degrees F, resistance is about 40 ohm. These are great for temperature measuring and temperature switching circuits. For temperature switchers, simply wire them into a comparator IC, and have it switch when the temperature is too high, too low or within or outside your acceptable temperatures. These are also great for power buses - when a short circuit occurs, these temperature sensors heat up right away, resulting in a great increase in their resistance, which in turn limits the current. Not as fast as a fuse, but also is not likely to blow, so ideal for remote and unattended applications.

These could be NTC Thermistors with room temperature resistance of about 18K ohms. Each probe or sensor comes in its only little tube as shown. The probes or sensors are white, 1-1/2" long, about 1/20" diameter, except for little connection bulges at each end about 1/10" dia. Each probe/sensor end has a bare lead 1-1/2" long. If these probes or sensors are thermistors or similar, they would be great for detecting out-of-range temperatures (either too high or too low) throughout a small, compact electronic device like a cellphone or calculator, instead of in one small spot typical of most small thermistors.

RARE VINTAGE THERMAL PLASTIC SOFTENER HEATER
UNIQUE & VERY VERSATILE WARMER

Used and in very good condition. Rare, Vintage, Unique and very Versatile Thermal Plastic Softener Warmer Heater. Has no make or part #. While originally designed for adjusting, shaping and sizing eyeglass frames and earpieces, this electric heater tool is great for many other uses, especially for crafters, modelers, and laboratory technicians. Silvery post is aluminum, base is steel (with minor corrosion on bottom). Post is labeled with size numbers: 36 (top), 38 40, 42 and 44 (bottom). Tapered part of post is 4-3/8" long. Post has an oval or oblong cross section (about 1-1/4" x 1-3/8" at its top and 1-11/16 x 2" at bottom of taper), because eyeglass lens holes are mostly oval or oblong. Hole at the top is also oval or oblong - about 1/4" x 3/8" and about 6" deep. (In left image, the device is lying down with the post top resting on a poser for more accurate taper perspective.)

Eyeglass frame tolerances are not that great and vary between frames, so you can have a situation where an eyeglass lens is a little too large in one or both dimensions to fit into the frame. Trying to adjust a cold plastic frame or earpiece can easily result in cracking and even breaking the plastic, ruining the frame. Back in the day, eyeglass frames were adjusted, shaped and sized using a thermal tool like this - now very rare. To shape a frame's eye hole, one places eye hole over the heated post and then slides it down to the appropriate size, then gently works the frame into the right size and shape. The frame lens hole shape need not be the exact same shape or size as the oval/oblong post cross section as the frame can be manipulated to contact only that part of the post needed to shape and size it. This thermal heater also works great with eyeglass earpieces. The earpiece is briefly inserted into the hole at the top, then remove the earpiece, and while it is still warm, gently adjust and shape it for fit.

This unique thermal device has countless other great uses, especially for crafts people, modelers and laboratory technicians. One is not restricted to plastic eyeglass frames and ear pieces, but other plastic types of loops, bends and spirals can also be used with it. Also great for shaping and curving plastic rods and tubes to fit desired designs and uses. We used this to make curved black eyebrows for a mannequins, and for doing interesting Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving decorations, exhibits and displays (e.g. Christmas tree hangers). Can also be used for decorations and displays for birthdays, other special occasions, science projects and displays, theater sets, and even Halloween. Can also be used to melt plastic to seal plastic boxes and similar, holes in plastic, plastic seals, plastic tube tops, and the ends of nylon cords and webbing. Device can also be used to attach or repair loosened decals and patches with melt glue on them, such as caps, hats, shirts and jackets, even to quickly iron wrinkled ties and ribbons, and is great for heatshrink tubing (especially great for large sizes, thick, multi-walled and adhesive-lined heatshrink tubing). And for uses and areas where you need high localized heat but don't want blowing air with it. And this thermal heater works with some rubbers and some woods. While it get very hot, we have not attempted to use it to bend chemistry lab glass or to melt solder or hot glue sticks. Can also be used as a temporary and emergency space heater, hand warmer, dry towel warmer, or small area heater to prevent pipes from freezing.

NOTE: This device requires some practice and skill to optimally use for eyeglass frames or model-making or crafts-type work. It only works well with materials which soften with heat. Since a few plastics and other materials do not soften with heat, some of which can be damaged by heat, cautiously test your materials first. In many cases, experimentation is required for optimum matching of materials to this device, and to develop good material shaping and sizing skills, but once you get the knack for using it well, it is a real joy and time saver to use.

CAUTION: This device is a heater that gets hotter than some soldering irons - hot enough to seriously burn flesh and damage property, and possibly cause a fire if tipped over or something flammable comes into contact with its hot parts. Use only indoors on a clean, clutter-free, dry, level, smooth, non-flammable and sturdy desktop or work bench top, and safely away from flammables, pets, children, and those who might contact with it or use it carelessly or not responsibly. These Minco Kapton Thermofoil Heaters heat up and cool down rapidly. We have used the ones we saved for our labs at 8-60 VDC continuously. These Minco Kapton Heaters get hot at 50VDC (250 watts). We have temporarily used them at up to 80VDC, where they get very hot (not recommended). We never go above 80VDC, and to date we have never burned one out. The highest voltage you should use with these Minco Kapton Heaters depend upon how much heat you want to apply, ambient temperatures, what materials they are heating, the thickness and size of the materials, whether or not they are on the top or bottom of the materials or sandwiched between them, and how well they contact the materials. You may have to experimentally determine your optimum voltage. As a general rule, the faster the heated material conducts heat away from the Minco Heaters (thermal transfer heatsink quality of the material and contact), the higher you can set your voltage. We have found that one of these Minco Heater panels is enough to heat a small room when used with a heavy aluminum heat sink and excellent contact. Of course, you can use them at much lower wattages for an almost endless range of thermal uses. These Minco Heaters are very versatile - since they are flexible to some extent, they can be wrapped around round pipes and cylinders at least about 4" in diameter - great for warming pipe and cylinder contents.

Minco polyimide heaters are thin, compact, flexible, lightweight high-quality, high-performance electronic heaters, allowing higher temperatures and thermal watt densities for flat and rounded objects. Easy and fast to mount, Minco polyimide heaters should be mounted or clamped to heat sinks or other appropriate smooth, flat or rounded, dry, clean surfaces for optimum heat transfers and most uniform heat transfers. While the Minco HK5528 Polyimide Heater has a peel-off self-sticking backing for easy dry mounting, it can also be mounted with thermal bonding or with heat sink paste, or not adhesive mounted at all. Thin, flexible lightweight electronic heaters allow you to efficiently apply heat where it�s needed to reduce your operating costs as wasted energy is becoming increasingly costly. New old stock (NOS). Sekisui Heat Sinks / Sekisui Radiators. 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" x 1/4" anodized aluminum. Slots are 1 mm wide and 3/16" deep. Peel off, self-sticking backs. Originally designed to cool PLCC ICs and CPUs, however, they have many uses. They can be placed onto just about anything for cooling. The lamps we used to help these take these images tended to overheat, we slapped on one heatsink on each lamp, which now keep them much cooler. These Sekisui heatsinks have other uses as well. For example, the slots can be used to hold thin shelving; it takes 6 of them for 1-8 shelf levels, two heat sinks on each back corner and one heat sink on each front side, then slide in the shelf or shelves, the distance between shelves can then be fine-tuned. Shelving can be horizontal or vertical. These heatsinks also have various craft uses.

New old stock (NOS). Thermalloy Part # THM-6221 TO-220 / TO220 heatsinks / TO-220 heat sinks / transistor heatsinks / voltage regulator heatsinks / integrated circuit heatsinks / radiators. Its solderable tabs are really great! They permit not only a more solid electrical connection but also a solid mechanical anchoring plus some heat dissipation of the circuit board itself. We have also used these to provide great heatsinking for TO-3 transistors and ICs by punching a hole just slightly less than the diameter of the TO-3 part head, then pressfitting the heatsink onto the TO-3 part head. These versatile TO-220 heatsinks can also be used directly or easily modified to fit similar-looking electronic device packages, and even for discretes (e.g. power resistors), piggybacked with each other or other types of heatsinks for increased cooling, and even used on non-electronic parts type uses (e.g. we use one to cradle a soldering iron once done with soldering). The TO-220 is the most common electronic device package used for power transistors, thyristors, rectifiers, voltage regulators, ICs, etc. and is sometimes written as, "T0-220" or "T0220".
