New old stock (NOS), DIP/DIL ICs. These highly versatile and compact boost voltage regulator / step-up voltage regulator / boost DC/DC converter / step-up DC/DC converter ICs are very useful. These wide-voltage-range voltage-doubler DC-to-DC converters double the 1.5V - 20.0V input DC voltages to 2.68V - 40.0V output DC voltages (output VDC is slightly less than double input voltages for less than 10VDC input). From our measurements (tested with a 1K ohm output load resistor): 1.5VDC input => 2.68VDC (3 VDC nominal) output, 3.0VDC => 5.62VDC (6 VDC nominal), 5.0VDC => 9.56VDC (10 VDC nominal), 6.0VDC => 11.62VDC (12 VDC nominal), 9.0VDC => 17.8VDC (18 VDC nominal), 10VDC => 20VDC, 12VDC => 24VDC, 15VDC => 30VDC, 18VDC => 36VDC, 20VDC => 40VDC. Note that 20VDC input voltage was highest voltage we use them for continuous use, both higher input and output voltages were achieved in short-term tests and may also be OK for continuous use. Output continuous power rating tested by us was 2 watts (enough to power several ICs). 1.5VDC => 2.7VDC means that with one AAA, AA, C, D, Nicad, Lithium-ion cell battery you can power low voltage ICs (e.g. LM358, NE532, WP901) without using an expensive and limited LM3909. 5.0VDC => 9.6 VDC means you can use a 5VDC power supply (e.g. TTL power supply) to also power 40xxx CMOS and other higher voltage ICs and transistors. Furthermore, by using two of these boost voltage regulators, you can produce 4X +V or -V output voltages or 2X ±V output voltages to within 1% of each other (inputs wired in parallel, outputs wired in series). These versatile and compact boost DC voltage regulators/converters replace our previous need to maintain a stock of dozen typical DC boost voltage regulators/converters with each type strictly limited to specific voltages.
These voltage-doubler boost DC/DC converters are about the same length and width of a 24-pin DIP IC and about 1/2" thick. They are each made with 23 pins total (0.1" apart; 1 pin omitted by its maker), of which only 4 pin pairs are used - 1 pair on one end and 3 pair on other end (the rest of the pins test open-circuit and have no known function, we usually clip them off). Each opposite sets of pins are identical (e.g. pins 1 and 24 are same, pins 10 and 15 are same, pins 11 and 14 are same, pins 12 and 13 are same), so if you wish you can actually install this IC on either of its sides as a SIP. Since the input and output pins are at the ends of the IC, you can mount other parts, preferably on backside of your circuit board (e.g. a DIP IC of 16 total pins fits perfectly) easily inside the footprint of the DC-to-DC boost converter IC). The DIP pins on these boost converter ICs extend 3/16" below the body and there is recessed area the general size and shape of a 16-pin DIP IC on the underside center; you can also conceal another thin IC(s) and/or other thin electronic parts underneath the DC boost converter IC's body (consider heat dissipation issues when doing this) to hide some of your circuitry from reverse engineering.
AMPLIFIER APPLICATIONS: Since the DC/DC boost converter IC's input and output pins are electrically isolated from each other, you can also use these step-up DC converters for isolation applications and to eliminate noisy ground loops and 50 Hz / 60 Hz and RFI interferences. No doubt they contain a built-in transformer to provide this isolation, which means that the device must chop-up the DC voltage to a frequency which the transformer will work at. We have found that these ICs are not limited to DC inputs, but will also boost low-frequency AC inputs upto 10 Hz like a constant gain opamp (with no feedback). Consequently, we find these boost converter ICs very useful as low-pass filters and low-frequency DC-coupled, gain=2 amplifiers (i.e. "G=2 opamps") - especially useful for some transducers and sensors and infrasonic applications. Because these ICs are essentially chopper amplifiers, you won't likely need a fresnel lens or rotating fan for thermal sensor applications. Since its upper frequency is about 10 Hz, it is very immune to 50Hz / 60Hz interference as well as RFI. So if you also need isolated, DC-coupled, chopper amplifier-type, gain=2 amplifiers, these ICs may be ideal for you.
We do not know what the actual specs are for these unmarked and unknown ICs, so we identify them with our own proprietary markings in our designs (protects our designs from reverse engineering). And because we cannot identify their actual part #, we cannot guarantee their specs - we can say that we have used them for various applications described herein and they have always worked fine. New old stock (NOS) SOIC TO-220 ICs. These LM7812 positive 12VDC voltage regulator ICs on heatsinks are circuit clips (used voltage regulator ICs). We have sampled-tested them under 12-ohm loads and every single one tested 100% perfect (10% randomly selected sample). The LM7812 ICs are riveted to their T0-220 heatsinks for a snug thermal connection, and were mounted with conductive paste. IC leads extend 1/4" beneath heatsink for insertion into PC boards, solderless breadboards and prototype boards (for easier board insertion, you can use wire cutters to cut ends of leads at a slant to point them). One wing of the heatsinks is bent from the normal 90 degree position to about 45 degrees so that clipping tool could get a clean, even flush cut, but is easily and quickly bent back without breaking using pliars. TO-220 heat sinks like these are expensive (much more expensive than the LM7812), and the cost of mounting voltage regulators on heatsinks in time, effort and money is substantial, especially in quantity, so don't let this great deal get by you. Of course, if you need these expensive TO-220 heat sinks for some other TO-220 voltage regulators (e.g. LM7805, LM7815, LM7908, LM317, etc.), TO-220 power opamps (e.g. TIP120, TIP32, etc.), or other part, you can always easily drill, punch or grind off the rivets to replace the LM7812s.

great Electronic Design article was devoted to broadband digital communications,
you should provide this same outstanding GDT protection for every piece of electronic
equipment / electrical equipment you value which is connected to any power line,
phone line, cable or antenna. Virtually no commercially-available transient-suppressed
power strips have built-in gas discharge tube lightning arrestors although nearby
lightning strikes and power system/equipment problems are major killers of computers,
computer peripherals, radios, televisions and other electronic equipment and
electrical equipment. These GDTs are about 1/4" long, 1/4" dia. Easily
solderable on both ends. One end lead is connected to the Hot side lead and
the other end lead is connected to the Earth Ground lead. An additional GDT
should be connected between the Hot side lead and the Neutral lead. Under normal
operations, GDTs have virtually open-circuit resistance, so power insertion
loss is virtually zero. When a high-voltage transient or electrical
fault occurs, GDTs contain a gas which is ionized by high voltages, which switches
the lightning arrestor's resistance to near short circuit to divert the high
transient currents safely to Earth ground and away from your invaluable equipment
circuitry.
When installed in conjunction
with MOVs (we also sell), fuses / circuit breakers, and high-voltage bypass
capacitors typically found in most very high quality power strips with built-in

NTC THERMISTORS
New old stock (NOS) GE STM CL-40 NTC (negative temperature coefficient) thermistors. These are about 5.8 ohms at room temperature and go down to about 0.1 ohms when a hair blower set on "hot" is blown against it for several seconds. While these CL-40 thermistors can be used for both hot and cold applications, they are easier to use for cold temperature control in conjunction with a voltage comparator IC. Can also be used to divert or shunt initial power inrush current or surge current to ground, or for circuits which require a gradual increase in current as it warms up. About 5/8" diameter, radial leads about 1-5/8" long.

EPCOS PTC thermistors / current-limiting temperature sensors, positive temperature coefficient. Actual color is silver-grey. At 65 degrees F, resistance is about 40 ohm. These are great for temperature measuring and temperature switching circuits. For temperature switchers, simply wire them into a comparator IC, and have it switch when the temperature is too high, too low or within or outside your acceptable temperatures. These are also great for power buses - when a short circuit occurs, these temperature sensors heat up right away, resulting in a great increase in their resistance, which in turn limits the current. Not as fast as a fuse, but also is not likely to blow, so ideal for remote and unattended applications.

Originally designed to cool PLCC ICs and CPUs, however, they have many uses. They can be placed onto just about anything for cooling. The lamps we used to help these take these images tended to overheat, we slapped on one heatsink on each lamp, which now keep them much cooler. These Sekisui heatsinks have other uses as well. For example, the slots can be used to hold thin shelving; it takes 6 of them for 1-8 shelf levels, two heat sinks on each back corner and one heat sink on each front side, then slide in the shelf or shelves, the distance between shelves can then be fine-tuned. Shelving can be horizontal or vertical. These heatsinks also have various craft uses.

Its solderable tabs are really great! They permit not only a more solid electrical connection but also a solid mechanical anchoring plus some heat dissipation of the circuit board itself. We have also used these to provide great heatsinking for TO-3 transistors and ICs by punching a hole just slightly less than the diameter of the TO-3 part head, then pressfitting the heatsink onto the TO-3 part head. These versatile TO-220 heatsinks can also be used directly or easily modified to fit similar-looking electronic device packages, and even for discretes (e.g. power resistors), piggybacked with each other or other types of heatsinks for increased cooling, and even used on non-electronic parts type uses (e.g. we use one to cradle a soldering iron once done with soldering). The TO-220 is the most common electronic device package used for power transistors, thyristors, rectifiers, voltage regulators, ICs, etc. and is sometimes written as, "T0-220" or "T0220".

These high-quality, rugged aluminum or steel industrial-grade 9 VDC battery (9V radio battery) clips/holders, while originally not designed to hold batteries but for a different use, these clips securely and snugly hold 9-volt batteries into place. We use a ton of these highly versatile 9-volt battery holders in electronic equipment we build, often to replace existing 9 VDC battery holders in commercial equipment, and for a wide variety of other holding, securing, hanging, guide, joining applications for other parts, tools, prototype boards, rods, small pipes and cabling which conveniently fit into them.
These 9-volt battery clips can mount batteries in any orientation, and adapt to all kinds of battery clip mounting constraints found in equipment: They can be mounted in any of the 3 axes, and they can hold the battery or other part either on its side or its end. There is a bottom tab in the middle of both sides of the holder, about 1/2" x 1/2" each. Either or both of these tabs can be drilled or punched for a mounting screw or pop rivet hole to mount them on the side or bottom of a project box. And either or both tabs or sides can also be bent out at 90 degrees for flat mounting on the side or bottom of a chassis. And either or both tabs or sides can be sawed off or even broken off with pliers (by bending the tabs up and down several times to induce metal fatigue). The battery clip center or ends can also be punched or drilled for mounting a pop rivet or screw to mount it without the tabs. Or the battery holder can be simply cemented into place or tied in place using tiewrap.
By squeezing in the holder/clip sides, you can considerably stiffen the grip on the battery or other part to prevent it from falling out under even rugged handling of your enclosure (we even mounted one as a test to the underside of a car and it kept the battery in place for 6 months until we removed it); and by pulling the sides slightly more apart, you can considerably loosen the grip on the battery or other part for more easy placement of it. Changing the distances between the sides also allows the clip to be used with parts of varying sizes and shapes. For thinner items, you can use wood, plastic, rubber or cardstock spacers to help secure electronic parts and other parts using these holders. And for thicker items, you can cut off or bend away one side of each of two holders, and then space the holders apart the right distance to accommodate the thicker item.
These holders are so versatile, you should keep at least several in each of your work areas. Aside from holding not only batteries but numerous other small parts, two or more can be used to securely hold, separate and/or route long items, like rods, pipes, tubing, cabling and wiring. And they can be easily used to secure adjacent flat items together in several ways. They are very versatile for many, many uses.
Battery and battery terminals (i.e. battery connectors) are not included. CAUTION: As with all items made from sheet metal, handle with care as getting cuts is always possible if you are not careful, and always of course work safely, including using gloves and protective eyewear, facewear, apron, etc.

Left image of coin battery holder is top of battery holder and right image is the bottom showing the two easily accessible, clippable and solderable contact tabs (unlike other coin battery holders). The coin battery holder will also easily hold many capacitor types and other similarly-shaped electronic parts and other objects upto 7/8" in diameter and upto about 3/16" thick. Great for electronic designers for powering small and compact circuits. These coin battery holders also serve as great actuators / switches - especially if you need a one time switch/actuator, trip switch/actuator, alarm switch/actuator or a pin-pull switch/actuator. For examples, the battery holder could be used as a safety alarm or shut-off switch when someone removes the cover from your electronic box, or as pin-pull personal alarm system or trip alarm system - you pull the nonconductive "pin" between the actuator contacts to activate an alarm the attacker can't easily switch off or bypass or replace the pulled tab.
