One of the biggest problems with charging 6V and 12V car batteries / motorcycle batteries are current surges and excessive currents which damage or destroy lead-acid batteries, and can even cause a car battery to overheat or even explode. The Sears AmpereDamper works in conjunction with 6V and 12V car battery chargers upto 40A, required because many car battery chargers are poorly designed and made, and output excessive and poorly regulated currents. Batteries are costly so you should not either fast-charge them or leave them unused for long periods of time, either of which shorten their lives and add to your costs. With the Sears AmpereDamper, you can select charge currents of either 1.0 Amp (slow charge) or 0.035 Amp (maintain car battery charge to keep car battery topped-off over periods of non-use). Each has a 1/4" shaft, and includes a 1/4"-shaft knob (not shown), unless indicated otherwise. These types of rheostats are highly linear and great for adjusting and controlling substantial electrical power to electronic and electrical circuits and devices. Another really nice thing about rheostats like these is that even if you break one, you can usually salvage the very versatile rotational mechanism assembly (removed from the wiring coil using a wrench) - a steel shaft which turns inside a fine-thread brass bushing (with 2 collar nuts for the bushing) for fine adjustments - and adapt the rotational assembly for small screwdrivers, nut drivers, punches, positioners, winders, stirrers, internal potentiometers, model car axles, pulleys, gears, motor shafts, crank shafts, and many other uses where you need a rotating shaft or sliding shaft inside a fixed piece. Used and works fine. This is a load resistor (dummy resistor load) for radio transmitter output testing (for ham operators to test loads to test transmitter outputs). The flat area stands at a tilt, and is about 2-3/4" on each side. Cable is about 10' long. If you know what its specs are or who made it, please let us know.

In radio, this device is also known as a dummy antenna or a radio frequency termination (RF termination / microwave termination). It is a large resistor used in place of an antenna to aid in testing a radio transmitter. It is substituted for the antenna while adjusting the transmitter, so that the transmitter does not actually transmit a signal during alignment, which might interfere with other licensed radio transmitters during the adjustments: [1] Also, if a transmitter is tested without a load, such as an antenna or a dummy load, the transmitter could be damaged. Also, if a transmitter is adjusted without a load, it will operate differently than with the load, and the adjustments may be incorrect. The dummy load ordinarily should be a pure resistance and heatsinked to prevent damage to it and to minimize thermal changes in resistance; and the amount of resistance should be the same as the impedance of the antenna or transmission line that is used with the transmitter (usually 50 O or 75 O). [2] The radio energy that is absorbed by the dummy load is converted to heat. A dummy load must be chosen or designed to tolerate the amount of power that can be delivered by the transmitter.

These high-quality, well-manufactured, rugged aluminum or steel industrial-grade 9 VDC battery (9V radio battery) clips/holders, while originally not designed to hold batteries but for a different use, these clips securely and snugly hold 9-volt batteries into place. We use a ton of these highly versatile 9V battery holders / 9V battery clips in electronic equipment we build, often to replace existing 9VDC battery holders / 9VDC battery clips in equipment used in our electronic laboratories and shops, and for a very wide variety of other holding, securing, hanging, guide, joining applications for the many other parts, tools, prototype boards, rods, small pipes and cabling which conveniently fit into them.

These 9-volt battery clips can mount batteries in any orientation, and adapt to all kinds of battery clip mounting constraints found in equipment: They can be mounted in any of the 3 axes, and they can hold the battery or other part either on its side or its end. There is a bottom tab in the middle of both sides of the holder, about 1/2" x 1/2" each. Either or both of these tabs can be drilled or punched for a mounting screw or pop rivet hole to mount them on the side or bottom of a project box. And either or both tabs or sides can also be bent out at 90 degrees for flat mounting on the side or bottom of a chassis. And either or both tabs or sides can be sawed off or even broken off with pliers (by bending the tabs up and down several times to induce metal fatigue). The battery clip center or ends can also be punched or drilled for mounting a pop rivet or screw to mount it without the tabs. Or the battery holder can be simply cemented into place or tied in place using tiewrap.

By squeezing in the holder/clip sides, you can considerably stiffen the grip on the battery or other part to prevent it from falling out under even rugged handling of your enclosure (we even mounted one as a test to the underside of a car and it kept the battery in place for 6 months until we removed it); and by pulling the sides slightly more apart, you can considerably loosen the grip on the battery or other part for more easy placement of it. Changing the distances between the sides also allows the clip to be used with parts of varying sizes and shapes. For thinner items, you can use wood, plastic, rubber or cardstock spacers to help secure electronic parts and other parts using these holders. And for thicker items, you can cut off or bend away one side of each of two holders, and then space the holders apart the right distance to accommodate the thicker item.

These holders are so versatile, you should keep at least several in each of your work areas. Aside from holding not only batteries but numerous other small parts, two or more can be used to securely hold, separate and/or route long items, like rods, pipes, tubing, cabling and wiring. And they can be easily used to secure adjacent flat items together in several ways. They are very versatile for many, many uses.

Battery and battery terminals (i.e. battery connectors) are not included. CAUTION: As with all items made from sheet metal, handle with care as getting cuts is always possible if you are not careful, and always of course work safely, including using gloves and protective eyewear, facewear, apron, etc.

Used, tested and it functions flawlessly. Large Transformer, #430-2003 EIA 6-9342 120VAC : 8.0VAC/8.0VAC. 120 VAC input is black & white wires at top. One 8.0 VAC output is yellow & purple, and other 8.0 VAC is white & purple (both purple wires are common to each other). We don't know what the 8.0VAC amperage is but this transformer was the power transformer for a 1200 watt application which we no longer needed and scrapped. Great for running a large bank of TTL logic. When you rectify and filter the 8VAC, the resulting VDC is close to 9VDC, so it has great uses for most large 9 VDC applications as well.

These very high quality industrial grade Veris H6812 split-core transformers/transducers are really great for a variety of uses, including power control, mind control, and metal detection! They provide secondary voltage AC proportional to the sensed primary current. Great for use with power meters, power controllers (see our Veris H800 Solid Core Go/No Go Current Switch offer), data loggers, chart recorders, and other instruments. The H681X series CT's provide cost-effective means to transform electrial service amperages to voltages compatible with monitoring equipment (i.e. current-to-voltage transformers). Output accuracy is 0.5% for primary currents 10% - 100% of rated current. Leads are 18 AWG, 600V, twisted pair, 6' long.

We bought several of these, some of which we are not selling because we used the transformer core to do much research into mind control and electronic attack and countermeasures - a big area of research and development for Consumertronics.net - and have gotten really interesting results (see our webpages for some mind control / electronic attack Items we sell). We have also great results with its core in our metal detector research (e.g. by wrapping it with a coil of wire) - another area where Consumertronics.net also does a lot of research.

The end bar can be easily removed to easily place the device around current wire to be monitored (primary) without touching or disconnecting the current wire. Because of this nice feature, the core can also be adapted to make a nice electromagnet. When used in conjunction with Veris split-core transducers, such as the H6800-5A, primary currents far higher than 200 amps can be used for switching purposes. If used in conjunction with hazardous voltages, be very careful to observe manufacturer's safety instructions and safe high-voltage practices. Comes with a convenient and adjustable mounting bracket.

We have disassembled one of these units, and found that it consists of a toroid core with 100s of windings, and a small circuit board at the top, which apparently provides a schmitt-triggered output for switching purposes. The torroid core is salvageable for many other possible uses if you wish.

Comes with a European-type AC power connector (see image left side). We have not tested this model railroad transformer under the load conditions it is designed for but it does operate fine under resistor load. We bought it at an estate sale (others got the train sets). 220 VAC, 33.6VA, 50 Hz input; 1.7 - 12 VDC, 1.2A 1st output (Bahn), 16 VAC, 1.2A 2nd output (Zubehor). 8" x 4-3/4" x 4".
