Used and in excellent condition. Rare versatile handheld Pinch Clamp / Gripper Clamp. This hand held pinch vise or pinch clamp tool was made from a rare antique tool (no parts of the antique tool are missing or modified). Pinch clamp opens between 0" to about 5/16" to hold any object within that thickness range (if bigger gap is needed, simply use a longer thumb screw). Its two washers have rubber pads on them to not mar your held objects. You can easily remove these two washers and substitute with washers with or without rubber pads (e.g. to solder or heat the held object or to dip it into chemicals) - bigger washers, smaller washers, oval washers, rectangular washers, and other odd-shaped and odd-type washers or extensions you can make or buy to customize this tool for your particular needs. Washers and extensions can be made of metal, wood, plastic, hard rubber or composite materials. You can also stack on more than two washers or extensions to hold multi-layer / laminated objects, and mulitple objects of same or different types or thicknesses. You can also use the pinch clamp to hold a cutter wheel(s) or blade(s), sanding wheel(s) or grinding wheel(s) to cut, scrape, grind, smooth or shape your work. And it is also great as a tool extension for small tools.

The pinch clamp itself can be held in the hand or by a vise (soft-jaw vise preferred) or larger clamp. We prefer to hold the pinch clamp using a laboratory clamp / holder (talon clamp or extension clamp), of the 3-prong clamp or round jaw clamp type to easily and securely hold and position it at any angle and maneuver it with ease hands-free.

This pinch clamp can also be used as a fish fly-tying vise tool (fly-tying clamp / fly-tying holder / fly-tying gripper) to grip your hooks and other small parts. And it can also be used to hold or grip just about any small object (including small tools to work on the tools or as tool extensions). One image shows it gripping a few pages of paper, the other image shows it gripping a 36" long wood ruler between its two washers, securely clamped down using the thumb screw so that you can securely work on the object without touching it with your fingers. And it is great for clamping down on smaller glue jobs and solder jobs. The pinch clamp is great for the crafts person, modeler, electronics fabricator, jewelery worker, clock repairer / watch repairer, photographer, seamstress, paster-up, electroplater, CSI / forensic personnel, medical workers, and other small precision types of jobs - especially small jobs where you don't want to handle or touch objects.

Used and in very good condition. Heavy-Duty Book Press / Binding Press / Letter Press / Flattener. Versatile Manual Mechanical Vise / Clamp / Compressor Tool. Great for Book Making, Gluing (Cementing), Flattening, Compressing, (Linoleum) Block Printing/Embossing, etc. Also great for compressing other objects, such as leaves, and flowers and bugs. And for flattening objects that have become bent or wrinkled (eg: after folding or becoming wet). And for making sharp, crisp folds. Many, many uses mainly for converting 3-dimensional objects into nearly 2-dimensional objects. This is not a screw press but a lever press, so you can operate it much more quickly and efficiently when doing multiple jobs with it. Solid steel press plate. Opening length is 5" and width is 2-1/2", so maximum total press area is 12-1/2 square inches (5 x 2.5). Opening height varies between about 7/8" (handle is near horizontal) and about 1-1/8" (handle is near vertical) - about 1/4" total press plate movement. Handle is NOT spring-loaded. Handle is 10" long, and moves thru an arc of about 120 degrees, so the end of the handle moves about 21 inches full swing. This means a leverage factor (ie: mechanical advantage) is about 84 (21/0.25), which means that 10 lbs of force on handle end translates into about 840 lbs of force by the press plate.

If needed, at your end you can do some easy and inexpensive improvements:
(1) If the opening height is too great, slip in one or more blocks of solid wood, metal or plastic as spacers to reduce the height to meet more of your needs.
(2) If you need to apply continuous pressure (eg: for glue jobs), attach a weight to the handle to apply the continuous pressure force you require. By varying the attached weight amount and distance from the end, you can tune your continuous press plate pressure over a great range, and vary the pressure as needed.

Original use is unknown, but probably was used to gap spark plugs using a pressing action, or in the hand assembly of spark plugs (if you know original use, please freely email us). Made in the USA.

Used and in very good condition. Steel Rare Kinedyne OKHZ6 #32326 Cap Clamp / End Clamp / Nut Gripper / Part Holder Tool. These clamps have six steel "teeth" on the underside as shown. These clamps close/open from 3/8" dia. (1/4" depth) to 5/8" dia. (1/2" depth) (see 2nd image, right clamps). To open the clamps from the closed setting, you push in the small button just above the knurled ring (see 2nd image, left clamp) and while doing that, pull the knurled ring up. Pushing the knurled ring forward closes the clamp. We do not know exactly what these very high quality cap-type clamps are designed for (clamps? grippers? end sealers?). We use them to grip nuts and other small parts. Makes starting nuts on bolts a lot easier - a gripping adjustable hex driver. Also great for gripping the ends of and holding tubes, pipes, rods, bolts, hoses and bottle tops 3/8" to 5/8" dia. The heavy duty rings can be used for improved holding of the tool, for hanging or storing gripped objects, for passing thru a rope/cable/wire/chain, or for snapping on a carbiner or other type of clip or clamp.

We bought a lot of these clamps, some of which we use in our shops and labs. We have found these types of clamps/vises so useful in so many different ways, some of which are shown in the images. For example, we use two clamp/vises to firmly grip an object for sawing with a band saw or grinding with a grinder for minimal exposure of your hands to the blade/grinder, maximum smoothness of cut/grind and minimal blade binding. Great tool for the Machinist, Mechanic, Cook, Crafts Person, Lab Technician, Sports Person, Biologist, Geologist, Paleontologist, etc.

This clamp/vise can be used to firmly grip, securely hold and and accurately position and manipulate balls, pipes, tubes, dowels, rods, tools, parts, laboratory glassware, forged objects, cables, ropes, hoses, snakes, square- and rectangular-cross section objects, irregular-shaped objects, fossils/bones, bundles of objects, many different types of food items (eg: fruits, vegetables), etc. If it is solid enough to be held and can fit into its jaws, these clamps/vises should hold it very firmly. This "fingers-of-steel" clamp/vise are not only great for securely grabbing, gripping, holding, positioning and manipulating objects with an adjustable grip strength which ranges from modest to a super-human-like iron grip, but also keeps your hands and body at much safer and more comfortable distances from the objects you are working on, for example, to help avoid getting burned (open flames, hot surfaces, boiling water/oil), cut, stabbed, crushed, irritated or contaminated. Also great as a rescue and retrieval tool for some items which have fallen into dangerous situations, such as flames, hot surfaces, boiling water/oil, dangerous chemicals.

If you want to improve the tool's gripping abilities or to better handle especially delicate Items or better electrically and/or thermally insulate the tool's fingers, you can put heat shrink tubing or rubber tubing (we prefer common clear neoprene hose pieces, see two images above) onto the tool's fingers, or dip the fingers into a can of liquid rubberized tool handle coating (eg: Plasti Dip). While rubber tubing and coatings are softer, shrink tubes are much better under heat and as an electrical insulator.

          NOTE #1: This is a re-purposed clamping-type device. While it works great for many jobs - we often use these types of clamps/vises in our shops, labs, and kitchens for many different functions - we do not know what its original use or purpose was for. Just like dental picks - originally intended only for cleaning teeth - now have virtually unlimited uses by many other professions, trades, crafts and hobbies, this clamp/vise is very useful far beyond any original purpose it was designed for. In fact, we find that there are many jobs we do where no other clamp or vise will properly grip, hold or position the object. It is high-quality stainless steel (highly resistant to corrosion), and should fit into all kinds of jobs, especially where purity and cleanliness are critical. You can autoclave this clamp/vise.

We use a ton of these highly versatile 9V battery holders / 9V battery clips in electronic equipment we build, often to replace existing 9VDC battery holders / 9VDC battery clips in equipment used in our electronic laboratories and shops, and for a very wide variety of other holding, securing, hanging, guide, joining applications for the many other parts, tools, prototype boards, rods, small pipes and cabling which conveniently fit into them.

These 9-volt battery clips can mount batteries in any orientation, and adapt to all kinds of battery clip mounting constraints found in equipment: They can be mounted in any of the 3 axes, and they can hold the battery or other part either on its side or its end. There is a bottom tab in the middle of both sides of the holder, about 1/2" x 1/2" each. Either or both of these tabs can be drilled or punched for a mounting screw or pop rivet hole to mount them on the side or bottom of a project box. And either or both tabs or sides can also be bent out at 90 degrees for flat mounting on the side or bottom of a chassis. And either or both tabs or sides can be sawed off or even broken off with pliers (by bending the tabs up and down several times to induce metal fatigue). The battery clip center or ends can also be punched or drilled for mounting a pop rivet or screw to mount it without the tabs. Or the battery holder can be simply cemented into place or tied in place using tiewrap.

By squeezing in the holder/clip sides, you can considerably stiffen the grip on the battery or other part to prevent it from falling out under even rugged handling of your enclosure (we even mounted one as a test to the underside of a car and it kept the battery in place for 6 months until we removed it); and by pulling the sides slightly more apart, you can considerably loosen the grip on the battery or other part for more easy placement of it. Changing the distances between the sides also allows the clip to be used with parts of varying sizes and shapes. For thinner items, you can use wood, plastic, rubber or cardstock spacers to help secure electronic parts and other parts using these holders. And for thicker items, you can cut off or bend away one side of each of two holders, and then space the holders apart the right distance to accommodate the thicker item.

These holders are so versatile, you should keep at least several in each of your work areas. Aside from holding not only batteries but numerous other small parts, two or more can be used to securely hold, separate and/or route long items, like rods, pipes, tubing, cabling and wiring. And they can be easily used to secure adjacent flat items together in several ways. They are very versatile for many, many uses.

Battery and battery terminals (i.e. battery connectors) are not included. Used and in very good condition. Craftsman Vacuum Base Vise Tool. Made in USA. Opens to 2". Jaws are steel 2-1/2" wide, 5/8" deep. Both screw and guide bar are 1/2" dia. A big advantage of this vise is that it is especially great for working on round stock (tubing, pipe, round rod, wires, etc.) of the popular 1/8" - 1/2" dia range, and for working on odd-shaped pieces of about the same girth. That's because it has two double-vertical "V" notches ("V" grooves) and one double-horizontal "V" notch. To firmly grip any object that is not flat in a vise requires at least 3 contact points with the jaws. If you have only 2 contact points (ie: flat vise jaws), the non-flat object will deform and/or rotate and/or move around when you try to work on it. Because this vise uses double notches (rare vise feature), it provides 4 contact points - much better than 3 contact points (ie: single-notch vises) - it firmly holds round and odd-shaped objects in place for even rough mechanical work on them. This very popular vise also has a rubber base that allows you to firmly attach the vise to smooth surfaces because it applies a strong vacuum to the surface. The advantage of a vacuum base is that it allows you to relatively quickly, easily and firmly attach the vise, change the vise's position, and move the vise to other surfaces (great for portability), plus it does not damage the surface it is placed on. We have found that if any rubber gets dry, rub baby oil into it to restore its flexibility.

Great for transmitting, receiving and/or testing for signals and voltages, for antennas, 9-volt radio batteries, terminal blocks, screw terminals, post terminals and other connectors. All kinds of other practical holding uses from clothes (i.e. clothes pins), to holding canvas/tarps/tents/covers, and as workholding and toolholding clamps. And as clamps even for holding rods, tubes and some lab glassware. Second image is to show one very good use: The fast testing of 9 volt batteries (also very useful for charging rechargeable 9 volt batteries, and for connecting up 9 volt batteries to loads). Jaws open 1/2" (0" if you remove the springs) to 1-5/8". Jaws are 1-3/4" wide, and 1/2" from top of rails to top of jaws. While jaws have grooves in them for holding watches and similar objects, the jaws will also hold flat pieces. The jaws are easily reversed by loosening the jaw assembly from its adjustment screw, sliding it off of its rails, rotating the jaw assembly 180 degrees, sliding it back onto the rails, and then turning the adjustment screw until again threaded into the jaw assembly. Our 4th image shows one of the vises with the jaw assembly reversed.

IDENTICAL VISE PAIR IS CRITICAL: Pliers, clamps and vises are much more useful and valuable when obtained in matched pairs. For many vise types and sizes, you need at least two identical vises because you often run into situations where you need more than one vise to best handle an object so that the object is being held securely, with uniform gripping force, closely level or aligned, in the same way and with the same feel for each gripping and holding tool. Let's say you need to cut a piece from the end of a steel rod. Most people clamp the steel rod into a vise, put it on the saw table and cut the rod's end protruding and dangling from the vise like a fishing pole. The problem is that the unsupported protruding rod end, when hit with the saw blade, will wildly vibrate. While this vibration is usually small and often hard to observe, it is forceful and often with great enough displacement and force to grab and misallign the saw blade, resulting in vibration, a rough cut, more chances that the saw blade will bind and unravel from its pullies, more wear and tear on the blade, and a much slower and hotter cut. But with two identical vises, you clamp the free end of the rod with the second vise and cut the rod between the vises, thereby eliminating 95+% of this vibration. There is a world of difference in how much faster, cleaner and more precise your cuts are, and how much longer your saw blades last, and the reduction in blade heating, binding and unraveling. We know, because we have conducted numerous cutting experiments. Also, with identical vises, you can best work on longer objects suspended between the two vises, whether that work involves cutting, drilling, grinding, filing, carving, shaping, painting, cementing, soldering, brazing, etc. And matched vises are better for exhibiting or displaying longer objects, signs and posters both for holding and positioning the object and for appearance.

New old stock (NOS). 12" diameter sturdy Steel Machinist Block / Machinist Plate Clamp Tool Workholding Plate for displaying, machining, crafting, painting, and drying objects. Drilled holes are 1/4" diameter, and in a critically important radial pattern from the center, with a center hole. Extremely versatile tool adaptable to many uses. Will hold objects of many different sizes and shapes in a suspended fashion, up to about 50 pounds (depending on weight distribution and the sturdiness of your clamp system). Normally used single-sided, it can also be used double-sided.
          DISPLAYING USES: The big problems with setting displayed or worked-on items directly onto surfaces (e.g. work bench, desk, table, shelf, counter, stand, podium, pedestal tops) is that the bottom of the object is shadowed or hidden from view and photography (resulting in cheezy displays and images), object weight may damage the object or the plate, the plate surface is likely to be scratched from object movement against it, and water, oil, dust or dirt on the plate's surface may contaminate and damage the object and impede cleaning of the plate and object's bottom. HOW WE MADE OUR "T" CLAMPS (these clamp parts are not included):
   (1) For the six "T" clamps shown, we bought 15 standoff nuts, 1/4"-20; three-foot piece of 1/4"-20 threaded rod (or six 1/4"-20 bolts, 3" long); 12 large washers; six screws (1/4"-20, 2"-long, not shown, used to secure the clamp to the block plate); and had in stock the six knurled knobs as shown (in their place, consider just using 1/4" bolts and perhaps threading on an extra nut to the head, or consider using six large necklace beads with holes, and cementing them onto the rod piece ends).
   (2) We cut three of the stand-off nuts in half, and six 3"-long pieces of the threaded rod (or use 1/4" bolts).
   (3) We soldered the half nut pieces to the full stand-off nuts as "T"s as shown (you can also cement, braze or weld them together).
   (4) We sharpened one end of each of the 3"-long rod sections (again, you can fit the end with plastic or rubber cups if you wish, or leave the ends unground).
   (5) We assembled as shown. Note that the bottom of the pan is recessed about 1/2", which means that your bolt heads won't likely rest against your table tops.

One big advantage of this heavy-duty versatile 2-piece vise is that you can place the two jaws at any distance from each other from flush to each other to more than a dozen feet apart, depending on the work you want to hold. Just bolt the two parts to whatever surface you want it to be on. And change its position as your needs for it changes.

The vise clamping part is 8-1/4" deep when opened as shown, with two bolt mounting slots, each 3/4" wide, 2-1/8" long. The clamping part opens 1/2" maximum, limited by the length of the two 1/2" dia. steel guide bolts. With the guide bolts replaced by longer guide bolts, max opening is likely much greater than 1/2" (we do not know and have not tested what the max opening is with other guide bolts or no guide bolts). The steel cylinder in the middle that pushes this jaw is a relatively massive 2-1/8" dia. We believe that this vise can clamp objects with several tons of force, if required. The drive end of the worm screw bolt is 1/2" square. The jaw action is so clean and smooth that we can turn the worm screw with just our fingers. Above and in front of the drive end is a grease fitting. The clamping part's jaw is 8" x 3-1/4" x 7/16" thick steel, smooth, bolted on by two countersunk screws. Weight is 27+ lbs.

The vise receiving part is 5" deep, with two bolt mounting slots, each 3/4" wide, 2-1/8" long. The receiving part's jaw is 8" x 3-1/4" x 7/16" thick steel, smooth, bolted on by two countersunk screws. Weight is 14-1/2 lbs.

The screw shaft is left-hand threaded at one end, and right-hand threaded at the other end. Also included are the two steel rods, with center holes, one left-hand threaded and one right-hand threaded. The shaft screws into the rods, as shown, to whatever spacing you need. Then, when you turn the screw in one direction, the rods come together from both shaft ends at equal rates; and when you turn the screw in the opposite direction, the rods pull apart at equal rates.

Great do-it-yourself (DIY) critical tool parts. These strong, high-quality parts can be used by you to make a self-centering vise, small scissors lift, pull/push type tool, measuring tool, or similar tool to your specifications and configuration. They were originally intended to make Hermes-like vises (e.g. engraving vises), but never used. A self-centering vise is a vise that you clamp down on a drill press, milling machine or lathe bed, usually to drill out or machine the center of objects, that you don't have to re-center the vise when the held objects vary in thickness or diameter (as long as they are symmetrical around the drilled/machined point) - great for mass produced work, as having to constantly manually re-center a vise for each object is time-wasting drudgery and error-prone. A small scissors lift (i.e. lab jack / lab lift / platform jack / platform lift) is a mechanical lift consisting of a platform that is raised or lowered by pushing together or pulling apart a scissors-like or accordion-like mechanism - by using these parts, converting horizontal rotational screw motion into vertical motion with very great mechanical advantage.

At the top of the Kodak Rotary Staging Vise is a rotable fixture that holds tools and work objects. The holding slot is 2" long, 15/16" wide, and 3/8" deep, with a set screw, which you can see rotates just fine (rotable fixture is loosened and tightened by the screw in its center). Great for holding tool maker type vises, many of which are 7/8" wide and fit fine and secure well into this slot (tool maker vise not included). Used and in very good condition, functionally perfect, some scuffing when made. One pair of Versatile Shop Handmade Pinching Vise Jaws Vise/Vice / Clamp / Gripper / Holder / Positioning Tool, which also includes the two 12" threaded rods with nuts (spacing for the threaded rod holes is 4-1/2"). These vise jaws open up to 1" wide and close completely. Depth of jaw openings is up to 1". The bodies of these vise jaws / clamp are aluminum, the brackets and adjustment hardware are steel, and body and bracket are firmly bonded to each other using epoxy cement (vise jaws are not recommended for welding, furnace or other operations where they themselves get very hot). Each vice jaw has two thumb-type adjustment screws, which means that the jaws will firmly vise, clamp, hold, grip and position both flat and tapered surfaces (up to about 5 degrees of taper).

This is a very versatile vise / clamp tool. And it is the rare type of tool that can do jobs that either no other tool is designed to do or is normally done by using a very costly special tool dedicated to that one job. By hooking up the two vise jaws with the threaded rods thru the bracket holes, you have a full vise, the jaws of which are independently adjusted to or away from each other using the standoff nuts on the threaded rods. Or the vise jaws can be used without the threaded rods, for example, on top of a vise by draping the brackets over the vise's jaws. These vise jaws can be used together or independently, and spacing between them can be from a fraction of an inch to yards. Uses are practically unlimited; our greatest uses of these vise jaws are:
       (1) To stretch and pull objects which tend to roll up or fold or are wrinkled. Great for painting, cementing, soldering, working on, experimenting on, cleaning, treating, drying, curing, displaying, positioning or photographing difficult objects like paintings, scrolls, important documents, fabrics, etc. We normally do this by attaching one of the vise jaws at each end of the object. We then secure the top vise jaw at the top of a door and let the object hang freely with the attached weight of the bottom vise jaw to keep it smooth and flat (we use a modified method for fragile objects).
       (2) It is usually very difficult to join two thinner objects along their edges butted up against each other. Every other method tends to result in misalignment, slipping and ruining the work. With these pinching vise jaws, you can precisely position, and then securely and tightly butt-up the two edges and then stitch, tape, staple, wire across, cement, solder, braze or weld them together. These pinching vise jaws work just as great if the edge of one of the objects must overlap, lay on top of or hook onto the edge of the second object.
       (3) As a very widemouth general clamp for cementing flat or tapered objects together.

Magnetic material is 1/2" x 1/4" strongly magnetized plastic magnet strip, cemented full length to the aluminum angle with silicone rubber cement. Additionally, the magnetic strips provide added cushioning of sensitive objects. Because the magnetic strips are both full-length and cuttable, you can do-it-yourself cut your own vise jaws to the sizes you need when you need them - great for creating your own customized magnetic vise jaws to fit your various vises and clamps or for your various light-to-medium vise or clamp jobs. The magnets are strong, and each foot-long jaw is oppositely magnetized. This means that when the jaws are on a vise for clamping, they hold the clamped object more tightly because the jaws magnetically attract each other in the vise through the clamped object, thereby requiring less torque force from mechanical clamping alone - even if the clamped object is not iron or steel, but especially if object is iron or steel. In fact, you can use these magnetic jaws without any vise or clamp at all to hold and position objects due to the attractive magnetic force alone between the jaws, for examples, to get objects to stand which would normally fall over, to stabilize unstable objects, and to impromptu position objects for photographing, displaying, painting, decorating, sanding, etc. To do this, the jaws are placed upside down on a flat surface (ie: non-magnet jaw sides down on surface, which need not be of iron or steel) with the magnet sides facing each other, placing the object between the facing magnetic sides.

Note: When magnetic jaws are positioned with the magnets on tops of the vise, height of the vise jaws is increased by 3/8" - great for increasing depth of shallow vises when you need the extra depth.

Cut or uncut, these very versatile magnetized jaws have many other purposes as well. For examples:
(1) As edging for iron or steel sheets or plates, table tops, desk tops, file cabinets, equipment, etc., for safety reasons, to prevent objects on surfaces from falling or rolling off, as a stand, as a straight edge, etc.
(2) When used on horizontal and vertical iron or steel surfaces, these magnetic jaws can be arranged as frames, guides, holders and extensions.

Note: Our hard-to-get and costly magnetic strip is very strong for magnetic strip material. It is NOT the weak, cheezo magnetic strip commonly sold and used for fridge magnets.

This sale is for stainless steel Pakosnap weighted photo clips with the weight that fits inside or outside of the clip. This clip is perfect for hanging film (roll or sheet) or for hanging or stretching any other kind of sheet material (1/4" thick or less in thickness) its strong grip will hold to prevent curl. The advantage of weighted photo clips over the unweighted ones, is that if curl is a problem, the unweighted clips require attachment to external weights or springs to provide the necessary stretching force. The weight can be easily switched from the inside to the outside and vice-versa, by removing the hinged front end of the clip and slipping the weight On or Off, and then snapping the front end back into place. We prefer the weights inside the clips because the weight can then be easily slid forward as a wedge to lock the clip in the closed or locked position to hold greater loads and then easily pulled back to permit release of the clip.

This kind of clamping action is similar to a very clever tool made and used by American Indian jewelry makers and silversmiths (i.e. ring clamps / wedge clamps) to quickly, securely and very comfortably hold and position jewelry, gems and metal pieces they are working on without damaging or marring the pieces. Their wooden ring clamp tool consists of two pieces of hardwood (today, they are also made from plastic and metal), each about the shape and size of a hotdog bun half - at least one end, and sometimes both ends, has a leather, rubber or plastic cover on it. The two pieces are connected to each other (flat sides facing each other) about in the middle by a pivot so that one board acts like a seesaw on top of the other board with a 1" - 2" maximum end opening or "mouth" at one end when the other end is pinched closed. The work piece is placed in the mouth of one end with the leather/rubber/plastic cover, and then a wedge is shoved into the other end forcing the mouth end to snugly close onto and secure the jewelry piece or other object into place. The amount of force used to insert the wedge dictates the amount of "bite force" the mouth end applies on the work piece being worked on. The wedge end is held by the crafts person.

In fact, the wedge-shaped weights of these Pakosnap clips actually make ideal wedges for ring clamp jewelry tools (which anyone can easily make from 1" or greater diameter dowel wood). Versatile Heavy-Duty W-Type Welding Pliers/Plier Clamp / Vise Tool, steel. 7-1/2" long, 2-3/4" wide, opens to about 1/2" maximum (jaw capacity). Nickel and black oxide plated to resist rust (don't buy the zinc ones sold elsewhere). The utility of W-type welding pliers go far beyond welding uses. Also great to clamp two or more same or different objects together (e.g. sheet metal sheets, paneling sheets, edging to sheet metal or paneling, plastic sheets, composite sheets, plates, leather, fabrics, circuit boards, etc.) to temporarily hold and press them together for spot welding, brazing, soldering, cementing, taping, screwing, riveting, nailing or stapling (which the two 1/2"-wide tyne openings are ideal for four precision fastener placements), W-type welding plier clamps are a must for the shop working guy or gal! These W-Type Welding Pliers works similar to the rare, expensive Dewitt Vise Grip 9AC locking welding pliers, except these W-pliers are better in several respects (e.g. much greater grip depth, smaller spaces between tynes, two tynes instead of one, better leverage, easier trigger release), in addition, performs many of the same functions as the popular "duckbill" Vise Grip locking sheet metal clamp (as well as being a great canvas stretcher pliers / carpet stretcher pliers) with much better leverage for many duckbill pliers uses. Great for the welding shop, sheet metal shop, paneling jobs, general shop, crafts shop, carpentry shop, paint shop, electronics shop. We have also even used W-pliers to attach leathers, naugahydes, plastics, rubber and fabrics together. While we have not tried W-clamps to hold flat glass, with the tynes padded and gentler pressure, this tool works fine with plexiglass. If the glass is fairly thick, good quality, undamaged, the tynes on the W-clamp are covered with rubber, leather, naugahyde, fabric or soft plastic (e.g. heat shrink tubing), and gentle pressure is used, we believe the W-clamps would also likely work on flat glass, but experiment first on expendable glass. So versatile and useful, these W-Pliers are a must for YOU!

Versatile Butt-Welding Clamp Set Tool, 8 steel clamps (zinc plated to resist rust), also great for general Leveling Clamping uses for sheet metal, wood panels and boards, plastic panels, etc. - including all other flat parts, even if small, just as long as the mating edges are big enough for at least one clamp to fit. Each clamp body is about 1" x 1" x 1". These clamps maintain a minimum 0.04" gap between the panels - ideal gap for welds, brazes, solders and cements to best hold sheets, plates or panels together. Can be set up for gaps up to about 0.75" (3/4") maximum if you need wider gaps (e.g. for inserting other parts or materials into the gaps, or installing hinges or hasps), and you can vary gap widths along the seam between 0.04" and 0.75".

These clamps are great for holding together edge-to-edge and securing adjacent sheets, plates and panels of materials and parts 0.001" - 0.25" (1/4") thick for welding, brazing, soldering, cementing or taping. By changing the crossbars for a thinner ones, or by grinding down the crossbars in their middle, you can increase thickness of clamped materials up to about 3/8".

You can also use these clamps to join materials and parts together of different thicknesses simply by inserting a spacer(s) or shim(s) between the thinner item and the clamps to make it about same total thickness as is thicker item (spacers and shims are not included with this sale). You can also use these clamps to join different types of materials or parts together. And you can also use these clamps to permanently or temporarily hold single items or multiple things together for (later) disassembly, modification, moving, arranging, transportation and storage (e.g. partitions, displays, stage scenery, set-ups, experimental assemblies).

These butt-welding clamps are also great as flattening clamps to help you flatten small areas of thin sheet metal, plastic sheeting and cardstock that have bulges, depressions, wrinkles or tear-throughs in them, thus requiring minimum work with hammers and pliers to repair (which usually require disassembly, and tend to leave tool marks). If the area needing repairs does not already have a big enough tear, make a thin opening big enough for the clamp blade to go thru. The clamp body should be on the side with the raised area. Once the clamp(s) is installed, carefully and slowly tighten the clamp to flatten the raised area. Apply welding, brazing, soldering, cement or tape if needed. These clamps are very useful flattening tools for items which are damaged because they were shot, cut, stabbed, torn, folded, warped, or involved in a car or industrial accident.

FAST, EASY, SIMPLE TO USE:
      (1) Place and accurately align the two material edges adjacent to each other, leaving a gap of 0.04" - 0.75" between them (use a gap that best fits your needs, and gap can vary end-to-end within that range).
      (2) Open up the clamps you need using their thumbscrews. While loosening, remove the crossbars at the bottom, and place them in a safe place.
      (3) Space and center the clamp blocks over the middle of the gap, sliding the lower clamp blades into middle of gap.
      (4) On the underside of the work, slide the cross bars back in one at a time, then turn down the thumbscrew of each clamp to hold snugly but not tight.
      (5) Then adjust the two panels together to make sure that your alignment and gap are exactly what you need.
      (6) Then tighten down the thumb screws to hand tight; it is usually best to do the two end clamps first.
      (7) Then apply weld, braze, solder, cement or tape along the exposed part of gap, at least enough needed between the clamps to secure the two pieces together. Spot welding is typical welding method to secure steel pieces.
      (8) After the weld, braze, solder or cement has cured, loosen the thumb screws, remove the cross bars, slide out the clamps, then store the clamps and cross bars. Then weld, braze, solder, cement or tape the spaces left along the gap, and allow it to cure again before moving or using.

The heads on all the pens work well, and appear to be brass. All heads are complete, except Pen #6 which has about an 1/8" broken off its tip. While the heads appear to be excellent quality and great condition, the same cannot be said of the wooden shafts. Several have cracks. Pen #2 was missing a piece near the head, and was repaired using epoxy cement. CRAFTSMAN ARTICULATED CRAFTS VISE / VICE

Modified-base Craftsman Articulated Vise/Vice, Item #03311, Pana-like vise - great for crafts, watch repair, jewelry repair, and general uses. This is a very high-quality and highly versatile vise/vice. Opens to 3". Jaws are steel and are 2-3/4" wide, 5/8" high (height is 1-1/4" from rail tops to top of jaw, and you can buy vise jaw inserts to expand existing jaw sizes and/or to better cushion work). This crafts/hobby vise has BOTH horizontal and vertical "V" notches on BOTH jaws (most vises either don't have "V" notches, or only one notch, or notches on only one jaw). Opposing "V" notches much improve the gripping and holding of pipes, tubes, rods and other round or uniquely-shaped objects with minimal slipping, marring and/or distortion - great for crafts, modeling, jewelry and other precision work. This is an highly adjustable ball-and-socket hobby vise with a huge range of head positions in all three axes to provide greatest positioning comfort and precision when working with crafts, modeling, jewelry, clocks, watches, dental objects, other small mechanisms and parts, etc.
          In our shops and labs, we work on electrically grounded steel plates (usually old iron biscuit/cookie/baking pans/sheets) on top of our wood shop and lab work surfaces. Galvanized steel plates/sheets and steel trays also work well. This magnetic base hobby vise also works great on pickup tailgates and other vehicles, appliances and other flat steel/iron surfaces on construction sites, in the field, trips, camping, etc. Steel/iron work surfaces not only protect your underlying surfaces, but allow for more vigorous shop work, are easier to clean than wood, and do not allowing static electric build ups when working with delicate electronics or metal or static-generating objects (if grounded). You can move and reposition this vise anywhere on the work surface, and remove if needed. To move the vise to a different work area, you can just simply pick up the steel/iron plate it is on and move them both together. If you need to remove the hobby vise but not its iron/steel plate, while its magnets highly resist sliding the vise on a steel or iron surface, to more easily remove vise, you just tilt up one side, and then the other sides. If you need even stronger magnetic anchoring, obtain and cement onto the hobby vise's bottom powerful Neodymium magnets (rare earth metal magnets), 1/8" thick is ideal. If you don't need high resistance to moving, then this hobby vise also works fine on other surfaces, including wood, plastic, aluminum, glass, hard rubber, formica, granite and marble (because the magnets are plastic matrix, damage risk to surfaces is small). On most non-steel/iron surfaces, there is still some resistance to sliding because the magnets' plastic matrix tends to resist sliding unless wet.
          Caution: Metal plates are not recommended for working with exposed AC line voltages or other high voltages because of risk of shock. While this vise itself will amazingly hang vertically on many flat steel/iron surfaces because its magnets are very strong (even hangs upside down!), do not use this vise to hold objects these ways as it may fall.
          STANDARD VISE BASES: Almost all new vises come with 3 types of bases, all of which are inferior to our magnetic base: (1) Clamped-On Vises: Disadvantages are that vise is limited to table, work bench or work desk edge, not easy to remove or move base, and they mar and indent surfaces. (2) Rubber-Based Suction Vises: Disadvantages are that they don't adhere to many surfaces unless they are very flat, smooth and clean (e.g. clean formica surface), the suction may often, suddenly or unexpectedly break, you have to wet the surface or rubber base for best attachment, and any damage or defect in the rubber base ruins its suction ability. (3) Vises with Flanges to Screw Onto Work Surfaces: Disadvantages are that you damage the mounting surface with screw holes, placement and removal requires much more time and effort, and you are virtually stuck with one vise base position. CONCLUSION: For most vise uses, magnetic-based vises are much superior in versatility and ease of use.

Anvil part of clamp has a groove, which is great for holding and securing round objects (e.g. tubes, pipes, rods) and odd-shaped objects (e.g. stones, assembly parts). Steel pot is 2-1/2" tall, 4-5/8"dia top, 4" dia bottom, 3/16" wall thickness. Comfortable handle is 3" wide. This nut cracker easily disassembles into the upper unit and the pot for easy cleaning and storage, simply by pulling them apart. Yet, when assembled, the posts fit snugly into the pot receivers for a firm and steady nut cracker/vise/clamp. While normally used together, you can also use them separately. When used for cracking nuts, the nut shells are deposited into the pot, which is later emptied. Pot can also be used for storing new nuts and nut tools. If used for crafts, modeling, shop, lab, electronics, watches, jewelry / gems, sewing, etc., you can work on your pieces with a very convenient and reliable way of catching both your debris and accidentally dropped pieces or parts from them. Rare, antique Perfection Nut Cracker, Model 1928, Patented 1914, Waco, Texas, modified to make a versatile, fast and easy-to-use vise. The T-handle is especially nice - comfortable and well-designed for hard clamping. Unlike almost all other nut crackers, this model has a threaded shaft and T-handle commonly found in vises and clamps to securely press against and hold objects. This Perfection nut cracker is modified with two large, thick knurled washers firmly epoxied to the clamp faces as shown. These added washers increase the clamping surfaces for firmer clamps. Also, the 1/2" dia. washer holes better clamp round and odd-shaped objects. This added feature not only improves the Perfection nut cracker's ability to position and crack nuts without slippage to enhance its inherent nut cracking utility, but is also great for many other uses, especially unusual clamping needs. Both Choppers pliers are marked as Cr-V pliers, which means made of chrome-vanadium steel. Closed, the curved-jaw Choppers plier is 9" long, the long-nosed Choppers plier is 8-1/2". "Jesse James" is embossed in cursive just below Choppers logo on both pliers. These Choppers pliers appear to be more strongly built and rugged than even the industry standards of U.S. Made Irwin, Petersen, Dewitt Vise-Grip type pliers. Both Limited Edition Jesse James commemorative pliers are original. Each is in pristine and very lighty used condition, with excellent jaws, as you can easily see. Finish is satin black oxide. RARE, UNUSUAL ANTIQUE POMEROY NO. 1, 1906
PRESS / PUNCH / RIVETING TOOL + VISE / CLAMP + ANVIL

Used and all of its functions work great. Some surface corrosion, but nothing significantly diminishes tool strength or function. We lubricated all moving parts.

Very rare antique multi-tool Pomeroy No. 1 Press / Punch / Riveting Tool, Vise / Clamp and Anvil Tool, Patented March 27, 1906 - the original Model 1 for this great multi-tool! The silvery object tied to the handle is a removeable modern socket which we simply place over the bottom extension of the press / riveter for hard presses (the socket can also be fitted with various dies and surfaces to suit one's applications without permanently modifying the extensions). You can cut off the plastic tie wrap when you want to use the socket for hard presses or if you wish to get rid of this added feature. The press / punch / riveter and vise / clamp parts of this tool are obvious from the images. The anvil part is less obvious and it consists of two sections: One is the top flat part of the tool between the handle and top of the Vise / Clamp tool part, and the other is the horn-like extension in the front of the Press / Punch / Riveter tool part.

This is a truly ingenious design for a benchtop multi-tool - down to the last detail of including a pipe hole optional way of mounting (Pomeroy multi-tool can also be bolted to top of bench) and alignment with other tools, and the notches in the vise/clamp faces for securely holding round and square stock, such as rods, pipes and tubing, and odd-shaped objects. This tool was made back in a time when most manufacturers and repair shops were small, family operations or factories where each worker had to do several different handtooling functions - opposite of modern assembly lines. With the way the economy is today, once again we are turning to the small operators and home garage shops. This Pomeroy multi-tool is very useful today, as it was then, because a single worker can efficiently use this versatile and compact multitool to perform many of his/her various work functions from just one location on the bench. New old stock (NOS). Metal Lathe Quick-Change Tool Post (QCTP). It is not stamped with its maker ID, or model or part number. This metal lathe QCTP also makes a great 3-piece Steel Specialized Clamp used to clamp onto perpendicular objects or edges. As a metal lathe QCTP, this precision tool bolts into the compound side of the metal lathe. Then individual tool bits are clamped in the removable holders. You then select one of the two mounting points and drop the holder into place, and lock it down. There is an adjustment to let you set each holder to bring each tool bit to center. Each of the two edge blocks (each has 3 screws) may be adjusted up or down by loosening a locking screw on the bottom left edge (left image) or top right edge (screws not shown), so the edge blocks can be independently adjusted up or down to fit even if seriously misaligned, uneven and/or different thickness parts. These edge blocks can also be removed. One edge block has a "V" groove machined along its inside middle, like many vises do, for gripping round tools, stock or other objects. This clamp or vise is very useful if, for example, you need to join two pieces of metal, wood or plastic at right angles to each other (even when they differ in thicknesses and/or alignment) to screw, cement, solder, braze or weld together, thus making this versatile clamp into a really nice alignment jig tool. And for using one edge block to secure onto the edge of a table or bench top and the other edge block to hold your work. The 3 holes and two top screws can also be used for other clamping, vise, holding, positioning, mounting or other purposes. And the edge blocks can be replaced by other structures which fit into their slots. And any of these pieces can be modified to serve other purposes or to expand or change its many uses.

Used and in great condition. We don't know what this large, unusual-looking clamp was originally designed for. The clamping end looks very much like the typical hot patch clamp for tubes. The fancy curve in its body and the much greater thickness of the materials it can handle looks like it is used for patching large, bulky tubes that its smaller cousins can't handle. A regular bench vise can be used to clamp anywhere along its ridge for optimum positioning. It has some surface discoloration as it was stored in a barn, but is fully functional. We don't know its make or model or how old it is. Makes a great tool collectible, and is very useful for clamping all kinds of flexible materials such as rubber, plastic, metal sheeting, and wood for the shop, business, hobbies, crafts, model-making, fabric and sewing uses, etc. If the material is relatively thin and flexible, you likely can roll-up or bunch-up a large quantity of material inside the clamp and clamp much deeper into the material than any other clamp. This clamp of course can be still be used to clamp rigid or thick items and materials to a depth of about 5".

Includes 1/4"-20 threaded screws, which clamp together the two plate halves, and which can also anchor the clamps onto wood, metal or plastic surfaces. These cable clamps have a rugged and durable plastic coating for much stronger gripping and much reduced fraying, and for electrical insulation / thermal insulation / mechanical insulation. Each clamp plate is 1" x 3/4". One plate is 1/4"-20 threaded, the other has a 1/4" thru hole.

These cable clamps are great for: Securing looped cables, parallel cables, joining broken cables, reinforcing damaged and frayed cables, and removing slack in overly-long cables, wires and ropes. Great for securing or guiding 3/16" - 5/16" wires, tubes, rods and ropes for numerous other applications, and as nail and screw guides. These clamps can also clamp cables, rods, tubes, etc. with diameters under about 3/16", just slide on rubber/plastic tubing over clamped area. And they can also clamp diameters over 5/16" (up to about 3/8") by using small washer(s) or nut(s) between the plates to space them if you need to.

These dual cable clamps can also be used as sliding guides for cables, wires, tubes, rods and ropes under 3/16" dia. And as tool holders and parts holders for screwdrivers and other tools and parts with shaft dia. under 1/4". Other uses for these dual cable clips is to parallel or to neatly separate from each other (i.e. space off) cables, wires, ropes, rods and tubes. And for non-electrical cables, wires, ropes, rods and tubes, they can also be used to extend their lengths by adding on additional lengths of these objects.

These cable clamps are also terrific for building up and converting shelves made of 1/4" rods (like those sold at Home Depot and Lowes) into longer shelves, wider shelves, containers, partitions, fences, barriers, gates, doors, covers, window covers, platforms, gurneys, pens, tree protectors, passage ways, etc. simply by using these dual clamps to clamp shelf sections and pieces together rod-to-rod.

These cable clamp plates can also be used separately as nuts and washers - push the thru-hole plate to the screw head end as the washer, insert the screw into object, then use the threaded plate as the nut.
