"BRAINWAVE" INDUCTORS / "BRAINWAVE" COILS

New old stock (NOS) 5 mh inductors, shielded. These shielded inductors are square and about 5/16" on a side and 3/8" tall (excluding pins). Coil is center-tapped (3-pins). Inductance is tunable from about 3mH to about 7.5mh (nominally set at about 5mH). These 5mH inductors are very useful in a variety of designs, including signal, RF, pulse generation, pick-up coil, transmitting coil, etc. We mostly use them to design some brainwave detection devices as they are sensitive to brainwaves.

Several things make these inductor coils ideal for brainwave and mind control research and applications: (1) Relatively high inductance for small physical size. (2) Small physical size for greater pinpointing of signals. (3) Outer shielding which not only minimizes the pick-up of stray electromagnetic fields, such as from power lines and transformers, but also provides physical strength to the inductor body. (4) Center-tapping for either tapping off two sets of signals isolated from each other, or for inserting a signal or DC voltage on one leg while inserting or extracting the resultant brainwave signal from the other leg.

SUPER THIN FLAT COIL

New old stock (NOS). Very versatile and rare type of induction coil / antenna coil about as wide and thick as a Moneygram, and about 400µH inductance. Especially nice for stealthly slipping inside of electronic equipment through slots, slits, joints and cracks, and between closely packed card stacks to pickup and detect important signals and/or to inject certain signals into the equipment, such as control signals.

If you've ever tried to make a coil like this, you will appreciate just how very difficult they are to make. Even some advanced electronic shops have problems trying to make them. We currently have about 100 of these very rare handmade coils available for possible sales; this sale is for one of them; and prices will likely increase as my supply diminishes.

This truly remarkable inductor coil can be used as a receiving coil / pickup coil / near-field coil / transmitting coil, continuous wave or pulsed operation. Two can be used together as a very flat transformer, or as some type of a detection / analysis / testing setup (e.g. the object to be detected, analyzed, tested or processed is placed or occurs between the coils), as a "through-wall" set of communications coils (e.g. transmitting coil is laid flat on wall or other separator and receiving coil is laid flat on other side of wall / other separator opposite to the transmitting coil). Another major application is using two as miniature Helmholtz coils (Helmholtz coil pairs are commonly used with electromagnetic therapy equipment and with mind control devices). Another is as directional antenna coils for Technical Security CounterMeasure (TSCM) near-field probes (especially the magnetic component). Other popular applications include other directional antenna uses, small metal detector coils, coils for detecting / measuring / programming brainwaves (i.e. brainwaves coil for various brain research, biofeedback, and mind control uses), as a general biological signals pick-up coil, as a near-field magnetometer coil, and/or science fair projects. Because the coil is flat, it can be conformed around cylindrical, spherical, wavy and uneven objects and surfaces. Great for snooping around electronic equipment in situ, especially when small and tight spaces make snaking in any other types of coils impossible, so this coil's circuit electronic troubleshooting, and security and research applications are truly outstanding.

These spiral coils also have crafts, jewelry and decorative applications. Some folks believe that spiral antennas transmit and/or receive mystical, spiritual, healing, psychic and/or alien/galactic signals. In fact, wall art from several ancient civilizations appear to depict flat spiral antennas. They are certainly fascinating to study and experiment with.

Because these special coils are all handmade, there are minor variations between them.

When iron is brought near the coil front, inductance increases by about 10%. New old stock (NOS). Very small 8.2 mh inductor coils (nominal 8mh inductors), 72 ohm, 50ma, part # NIS00410. When iron is brought near the coil front, inductance increases by about 10%. This means that these 8.2mh coils are great as pickup coils, for example, to pickup brainwaves and other magnetic fields - great for biofeedback, mind control and electronic attack research. These SMT/SMD coils are very small - 3/16" diameter, 1/8" tall - in fact, tiny compared to their relatively high inductances. And because these inductors are tiny, they are especially great for pinpointing localized and small magnetic field sources, which is often critical for brain research, surveillance, and where small magnetic field sources are near or inside larger magnetic fields, such as ambient magnetic fields. (10) FEC0114 INDUCTOR COILS (FEC 0114 COILS),
VERSATILE & PROGRAMMABLE INDUCTORS

New old stock (NOS). These versatile FEC 0114 / FEC0114 inductors are about the size and shape of chess pawns. They are 1" long (excluding 3/8" long pins). Base diameter is 3/4", top diameter is 1/2". Top is mounted with a magnet. These FEC0114 inductor coils come as shown on the left with labeled heatshrink wrap, but this plastic wrap is easily removed with an Exacto knife to result in right image (heatshrink tubing works fine as a replacement wrap). Coil resistance is about 0.03 ohms. Coil inductance is about 8µH with no iron near coil top, but decreases to about 5µH with iron near it. Top magnet is ceramic and moderately powerful, but can be demagnetized with a rare-earth magnet, in which case, inductance is about 36µH with no iron near top and about 34µH near iron body. Clearly, sensitivity is much higher with top magnet as is, however, you can partially demagnetize this magnet to fine tune the inductance betwen 8µH and 36µH. With wrap removed, you can modify the number of coil windings, and with the coil windings modified or unmodified, you can wrap additional layers of coil to make customized inductors or transformers. While three pins are shown, only two are connected to wires - the third pin can be ignored, clipped off or wired to something else. These non-documented features not only provide you great versatility in using these inductors in numerous designs, they also help you thwart efforts to reverse engineer your designs. Other uses of these FEC0114 coils are obviously as chess pawns (great for the geek chess player!), and as insulated standoffs and wire tie-down points. As insulated standoffs, you can detect and measure voltage drops between two points on a wire strung between two of these inductor coils, or electromagnetic leakage from an insulated wire. You can also use these FEC0114 inductors to detect, count, control and tune rotations or movements of an iron or steel geared wheel or other objects where the rotating gear teeth or moving objects just clear the magnet (e.g. tachometer and assembly line designs).

LARGE, ADJUSTABLE STEEL INDUCTOR COIL
Great for Theremins, Antennas, Metal Detectors, Tank Circuits, Crafts, Toys, etc.)

Used and in very good condition. We purchased this in an electronics surplus store. These large springy metal inductors have practically endless uses ranging from electronics, crafts, toys, model making, science projects / science fairs, etc. Compressed, they are 2-1/2" diameter and 2-1/2" long. The conductor coil itself is about 1/8" wide and 1/32" thick. It fully expands to about 10 feet long. Inductance varies from about 240 µH (240µH, 99% compressed) to less than 40 µH (40µH, extended to about 6 feet).

If you hold both ends and extend this metal inductor, it will sag in the middle. What we normally do is use a wood or plastic (not metal) broom handle, dowel rod, 2"x2" lumber, or heavy-duty carboard shipping tube as a stiff form to string the inductor out on to maintain spring shape. For those uses, such as antennas, where we need to keep the inductor length constant, we cement the ends to the form, and sometimes spot cement some of the spring coils in between.

we love to use these inductors in the tank circuits of homebuilt Theremin devices. A "Theremin" is an audio special effects device that dates back to about the 1920s, commonly used in those old horror and science fiction movies to produce those scary sounds. By expanding and compressing the coils, the circuit's LC tank circuit inductance is changed, thereby also changing the output frequencies, resulting in very unusual Theremin-like sounds. Similar sounds can also be produced by rubbing, flicking or moving the coils with an insulated iron bar. You can get endless hours of fun and entertainment out of it, and it has real potential of being developed into its own unique musical instrument to produces the really cool and unique sounds for some of today's music.

This inductor also serves as a pretty good antenna and metal detector coil. It has many exciting uses for the electronic hobbyist, and for science projects, science fairs, and classroom demonstrations. It can be used as a big, strong electromagnet because of the strong magnetic field it can be made to produce.

It also has crafts and shop uses. For examples, it can be used to make toys of various kinds, as well as other craft creations, such as lamps, figures, etc. And it can also be mechanically used to protect, reinforce and organize many different kinds of items such as bundles of wires and cables, long tools, tubes, pipes, rods and other shop stock.

They consist of two commonly wound coils of about 175 µH (175 microhenry) each, coil resistances are about 0.5 ohms each. The two 0.1 inch spaced pins on one side are the winding connections for the primary/secondary, and the two 0.1 inch spaced pins on the other side are the winding connections for the secondary/primary. Both the primary and secondary appear to be identical for a 1:1 turns ratio. On one side of transformer, there are 6 pins, which are for 3 sets of independent windings. Each pair of these 3 windings is less than 0.1 ohms resistance. Two of these windings measure 1µH inductance, and one measures 46µH.

On the other side, there are 5 pins, which are for 2 sets independent windings. One winding is tapped, and measures less than .1 ohm and 16µH from tap to one pin and 0.2 ohm and 0.2µH from tap to other pin. The other winding measures 0.4 ohm and 570µH.

These transformers can be used to as 1:1 ratio isolation transformers or as step-up and step-down transformers, up to about 16:1. Bandwidth is about 50KHz to about 50MHz.

ISOLATION TRANSFORMERS /

New old stock (NOS). We bought a ton of these - and am selling my extra stock. These isolation RF / signal / pulse transformers have 2 sets of windings with the same inductance (2.5 mH) and resistance (2.5 ohm) on each side. The coil is a spool-wound coil with a ferrite shroud, 1/2" diameter. 3 pins on each side (middle pin is center-tapped), with pin-to-pin spacing of 3/20" (which means that the end pins are 0.3" apart), and spacing between pin rows of 9/16". Because the inductances and resistances are equal on both sides, these make great 1:1 isolation transformers. And because these transformers are center-tapped, you can do 1:2 step-up and 2:1 step-down transformer applications with them.

These are spool-wound transformers (not torroid/toroid transformers), which means that if you remove the ferrite shroud, you can use them as metal detection and magnetic field pick-up coils / transducers. This is really nice because what you can do is inject a high-frequency signal into one set of windings and observe the isolated output of the second set of windings as modified by metal or magnetic field the transducer is exposed to, thereby detecting the presence and quantity of the metal or the presence, intensity, frequency, duration, waveform and modulation of the magnetic field. For example, we found that these so-modified small transformers are excellent for studying brainwaves and brainwave signatures, biofeedback, electronic implant detection, etc. for my work for Consumertronics.net and Lone Star Consulting, Inc. For some of my many mind control, electronic attack and biofeedback publications and hardware We are selling, please see my webpages. Other great applications we get out of them is antenna isolation, high-voltage section isolation, and SCR triggering.

I found that removal of the ferrite shroud is best done by using a small grinding wheel to carefully grind off the ferrite bridge at the top of the coil (across the label), at which point the shroud comes to pieces and is easily removed. When the ferrite is removed, the about 1/4"-thick spool has a 3/16" through center hole, where you can boost some of the inductance lost due to the removal of the shroud by inserting a piece of ferrite slug or soft iron rod (e.g. an iron nail head).

I was told that this rare, vintage 3-gang capacitor came off of an old tube type radio (an Atwater-Kent). We don't know its origin so we can't verify this. Made by Radio Condenser of Camden, NJ. 4.25" long, 3.25" long, 2" tall (with capacitors all the way down). Capacitor shaft has an axle gear, which is driven by a vertical worm gear that is on a flexible shaft with a slot screw-driver looking end. We have temporarily bent one of the blades to better show blade pattern. Has no apparent damage and turns well in both directions.

RARE, VINTAGE VARIABLE POWER RESISTORS

Some New Old Stock (NOS), and some used in great functional condition. Various values (below). We bought about 100 of these rare, vintage power rheostats (variable power resistors) at an electronic engineer's estate sale, each in its own small plastic bin. Each has a 1/4" shaft, and includes a 1/4"-shaft knob (not shown), unless indicated otherwise. These types of rheostats are highly linear and great for adjusting and controlling substantial electrical power to electronic and electrical circuits and devices. Another really nice thing about rheostats like these is that even if you break one, you can usually salvage the very versatile rotational mechanism assembly (removed from the wiring coil using a wrench) - a steel shaft which turns inside a fine-thread brass bushing (with 2 collar nuts for the bushing) for fine adjustments - and adapt the rotational assembly for small screwdrivers, nut drivers, punches, positioners, winders, stirrers, internal potentiometers, model car axles, pulleys, gears, motor shafts, crank shafts, and many other uses where you need a rotating shaft or sliding shaft inside a fixed piece. Great for robotics, model-making, crafts, and clock making. The power rheostats will be shipped individually wrapped, bagged and packed (plastic bins not included).

HIGH-POWER RADIO TRANSMITTER TEST LOAD
RADIO DUMMY LOAD IN LIEU OF ANTENNA

Used and works fine. This is a dummy load for radio transmitter output testing (for ham operators to test loads to test transmitter outputs). The flat area stands at a tilt, and is about 2-3/4" on each side. Cable is about 10' long. If you know what its specs are or who made it, please let us know.

In radio, this device is also known as a dummy antenna or a radio frequency termination (RF termination / microwave termination). It is a large resistor used in place of an antenna to aid in testing a radio transmitter. It is substituted for the antenna while adjusting the transmitter, so that the transmitter does not actually transmit a signal during alignment, which might interfere with other licensed radio transmitters during the adjustments: [1] Also, if a transmitter is tested without a load, such as an antenna or a dummy load, the transmitter could be damaged. Also, if a transmitter is adjusted without a load, it will operate differently than with the load, and the adjustments may be incorrect. The dummy load ordinarily should be a pure resistance and heatsinked to prevent damage to it and to minimize thermal changes in resistance; and the amount of resistance should be the same as the impedance of the antenna or transmission line that is used with the transmitter (usually 50 O or 75 O). [2] The radio energy that is absorbed by the dummy load is converted to heat. A dummy load must be chosen or designed to tolerate the amount of power that can be delivered by the transmitter.

ADSL POTS PHONE LOW PASS FILTER BOXES

These new Umec ADSL Pots UT20145 telephone low pass filter phone boxes are really great, especially for the experimenter! These were originally made for - and still function very well as - line filters for DSL applications. The enclosures themselves are heavy-duty plastic 4" x 2-1/4" x 1". As you see, the circuit board is easily removed, letting you use this nice enclosure for prototype projects you may be working on - high quality substitutes for expensive Budd boxes. It has a flange that protrudes from the base 1/2" on each side with a center hole for convenient mounting. The board itself has 3 RJ-11 phone jacks: One phone jack for the Line, one for filtered Output and one for unfiltered Output. The PC board also consists of sets of series inductors and parallel capacitors used to perform the low pass filter function. The enclosure cut-outs for the RJ-11 connectors can be used for other connectors, or you can cut off the RJ-11 connectors from the boards and mount them on your own circuit board. RJ-11 cables are very common and inexpensive, and can be used for many phone and non-phone applications. The 3db cut-off is 7 KHz. Attenuation is 12db at 8 KHz, 60db at 20 KHz, and 72db at 40 KHz. Insertion loss from 200 Hz to 4 KHz is 0.5db. These connectors, inductors and capacitors can easily be removed, changed or added to should you need to change your low-pass filter characteristics or even to change the filter to bandpass filters.

(4) LAPTOP SPEAKERS / MINEATURE SPEAKERS

Used and in great condition. Laptop speakers, miniature speakers with metal grills. We don't know their laptop computer makes and models. While they all basically look very similar to each other and like above, and use the same connector and are all salvaged from laptops, their sizes and shapes vary some, and include both left speakers and right speakers. Each laptop speaker does have two screw holes for easy mounting in an enclosure. Using a band saw, we were able to remove a couple of the actual speaker units and they are about the size of a quarter. Frequency range is quite impressive - goes from about 1 KHz to well into the ultrasonic and sonar bands.

They also use a powerful magnet, which you can salvage if you wish when you are done with the speakers.

New old stock (NOS). We use these small, very high quality treble/ultrasonic transducers miniature speakers for both treble audio applications and ultrasonic applications. They are a small 20mm (2 cm) in diameter and 3 mm thick. They are 110 ohms, 2 mh. Images were taken under my 10X microscope which field was too small to capture all of the ultrasonic speaker with one shot, and we wanted to also show their really nice gold-plated speaker contacts. The permanent magnets on these ultrasound transducers are pretty strong, and we salvaged some of these speakers from my huge personal stock for their magnets.
